Re: Depressed.
why are you feeling down? today is the first day of the rest of your healthy life! you have no idea yet how good you are going to feel and how losing weight will open the doors to do all kinds of things you never thought you would. no pity parties...you should be celebrating!!! read around the board on all the success stories...you'll be one too.

Re: Depressed.
You won't be depressed when you're clothes are falling off you and all the cute smaller clothes look good on you!
You need to get some sunshine! could be the winter blues! I don't know where you live but try to get about 15 minutes of sunshine on as much of your body as you can tomorrow! Take your vitamins, drink your water, count your blessings and remember how much you can have instead of what you can't. Thankfulness can turn your depressed mood around... and reach out to someone... everyone needs someone... you could be the one to cheer someone else up.
Hope you feel better tomorrow. Induction can be tough.

Re: Depressed.
Everyone has their ups and downs! It helps me to act happy when I'm down.
I always thought it was a silly concept but it really works, act happy and pretty soon you are. I saw an interesting PBS special about facial expression and sort of explained why it might work, the act of smiling actually sends messages to your brain that you're happy.
oh..I'm TMI rambling ..heh

Re: Depressed.
Hey,
Sorry you're feeling down. It can be tough to have to give up things that give you enjoyment. However, these guys are right - you are making healthy choices and it is not good to rely on food to make you feel good. If that is not what you're saying, I'm sorry - I'm reading between the lines a little.
It is a great idea to read some success stories. The losers lounge is a great place to start: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...=losers+lounge
Exercise is also great to lift your mood, so make sure you are doing enough. Lots of us on here were reluctant to start exercise, but eventually fell in love with it.
Also, if you are seriously depressed, seek counselling or advice. No shame in doing that - it is a positive step.

Re: Depressed.
Alexa's right, this is a tough journey. Just remember you're going to make it and reach goal. Keep focused on the goal and make sure you eat according to plan. Before you know it you'll be feeling great

Re: Depressed.
It might seem hard right now but trust me it just gets easier and easier and as the others have said think about all the fun stuff you are going to be able to do. Like me for instance....I like roller coasters and carnival rides but at my max weight I was too embarassed and/or afraid I wouldn't fit inside to go on any. This weekend I'm heading to Las Vegas and going to do a ride spree. Going to be a blast and I know I wouldn't never have epxerienced it if I hadn't lost weight.
SO, take it one day and know that there will come a day when everything just goes smoothly, you don't have to think too much about what you are eating because it will be like second nature to you, and you won't even crave carbs.Grant

Re: Depressed.
Atkins has been the cure of my ills. When none of my clothes fit and I felt phyically tired and lazy due to the weight I felt like losing 73 pounds would never be possible. Restarting Atkins and being a third to my goal in just a few months has shown me that it is possible. I know it is hard a first but it gets easier and you will realize that whatever you may give up in food (food which isn't good for you anyways) you get back 100 times over in feeling great and being healthy.

Re: Depressed.
I just started too and I too have felt very down over the past few days (and really emotional). In addition to the things that the others have mentioned, I think that it might be do to the sugar withdrawl. Blood sugar levels have a huge impact on emotions. Some people (without knowing it) eat a lot of processed carbs and sugar to get the "high". Of course the sugar makes them crash so they keep comming back for more. When these "sugars" are removed (when starting induction) blood sugar levels are low for a while and take a while to stabilize.
It takes a different ammout of time for everyone. I didn't eat that much sugar before starting but I have had huge withdrawl symptoms. Others who had a much higher sugar intake might have no symptoms.
Please stick with it. In a little while you will feel sooo good (like I do now) because your body chemistry will normalize.
