  • Day 5 (lost an inch)

    Hi there,
Today is Day 5 for me. All the symptoms have disappeared. Really happy I made it through and didn't give up. I have a lot of energy today. Wow!
I don't have a scale, so I was really curious today and did some measurements.
I lost a full inch around the thinnest part of my waist and a full inch around my belly button area(love handles).
I am hoping to mostly lose my wing like upper arms, and maybe my love handles and saddlebags but this is definately a good start in only 5 days. I can't really believe it.
I am thinking maybe I was just bloated before or just water retention but any way it's cool. It's an incentive.
I just wanna say try not to quit during induction if you feel terrible. It seems to pass after a few days.
    Good luck to everyone.

Great job. Measuring is the best way to go. I'm losing way more inches than pounds. I'm glad you stuck it out. Keep up the great work.

Re: Day 5 (lost an inch)

Thanks alot..really happy for an inch loss. For me that's alot.

I am going for just losing a few inches of flab. Later planning to do weight training to gain muscle weight so in the end I will probably weigh the same. Maybe more which when I think about it that's a good thing in my case. Your probably wondering why I don't weight train now but I worry that if I weight train and don't lose the flab then my arms will end up being thicker. I don't mind them being the thickness they are not just I mind the flabbiness and cellulite. I do also know that muclse burns fat..but I just want a 100% guarantee... Does that make sense to anyone??

Day 7 and I feel like I've got it figured out. Not being a big meat eater really had me worried when I first even thought about this as a possible diet. I can say that as of today I am a lot less worried. I am going to think of fat as a sugar substitute.
I think I just need to find lots of recipes and check out my cook books. I think that will make all of the difference in the world. I am the worst cook but I have decided to try harder.

                    Thanks alot for the site.
I broke down and bought a scale today even though I thought I was gonna wait.
Day 8 and I have lost 6 pounds since the last time I weighed myself at my inlaws. I think in the middle of January. So I don't know if I lost it this week, but likely because my weight was always very close to that number.
I started worked today and I really enjoyed the diet.

You have to plan good if you are in school or job when on this diet. You rarely find anything there that is Atkin's friendly. Everything is breaded and high carb. Really nasty stuff. Like today, I have to pack a whole bunch of stuff because I need at least two meals and a snack at school. It is a real pain with lunch box and backpack but I would rather do it than be bad on the diet so I do it.

Yeah, it takes an effort that's for sure. I will probably save some money cooking every meal now.
I am enjoying Atkins food now. It seems easy in induction. My hunger has died down alot.
I used to stop by the bakery everyday to buy some treats but now I don't think about it.
Really strange. I have to admit I had 3 strawberries on the weekend because someone offered them to me and I didnn't wanna be rude. Oh well.

My hunger is pretty much down too. It makes it a lot easier. Now I realize when I get full too. I used to not really recognize it before and would eat until I was miserable.

Watch out for those strawberries, they are not until rung 3!

I know what you mean. When I full now I stop. I have no desire to eat more. Very strange for me. I actually don't even feel like the third meal but I know it's important to eat three meals so I do.
Yeah, I know the strawberries were bad. Everyday this week someone has offered me fruit. I liked fruit before starting Atkins but now I don't think about it very much but when they give it to me it's a little hard. My new idea is I take it and when they go away I give it to someone else.
