When i was checking out food items at the supermarket, i noticed that double cream has less Carbs than Single cream?? Whats the reason behind this?

Re: First day of the 14 day induction!!

    Hi Danielle:

I am finding this is taking a lot of time figuring out what foods are legal or not and looking for new recipes. I am out to the grocery store often looking for new things that I've never even bought before and cooking them in new ways (in butter for instance!) There really is a lot of selection but you have to spend the time doing the research. In the two week induction you couldn't cook all of the suggested recipes. As far as breakfast goes, so far I've been pretty satistied with bacon and eggs, the same way I was satisfied with cereal before day after day, so as far as breakfast goes, I don't have much to suggest except ham and omelettes with veggies and cheese, which is something else I have done.

I made a split decision in about 2 days to go on Atkins and now wish I'd been learning about it a long time ago. I will probably toss most of my old cook books and some old ingredients (like white flour and cornstarch and Bisquick) and learn more about how to incorporate new kinds of foods into this new way of life, like most of the successful people here have done.

It's only been 8 days and I've lost 8 pounds for me, so it's worth it. Just keep looking around for new recipes and ideas. You will find them.

Re: First day of the 14 day induction!!

      HI Danielle,
I too have just started Atkins yesterday and I want to lose between 20 and 25lbs. I wish that I could say that all is well right now, but I have been hit with a nagging headache and diarrea. I was a big sweets person and maybe it is withdrawl. I am going to stick with it and pray for a great outcome at the end of my 14th day....Jende lost 8 pounds in one week....I'd be so greatful to lose that much in a week. Her ham and veggie omelette sounds good.

Lets keep in touch...we started at the same time and want to lose around the same amount of weight....

      Best wishes,
      Rose

          Hi Danielle and Rose
          Welcome to ADBB.

AS Jen and Ozlover said, breakfast doesnt have to be eggs or any of the traditional 'breakfast' foods. I haven't had bacon or eggs (except in the crustless quiches I make) for my first meal in the day once in over 4 years!

So you can eat any food from the allowed list that you like for breakfast!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Today I threw in some mushrooms, red pepper and spinich, sauteed it, then added a beaten egg, half can of tuna and mozzerella cheese and cooked it. It was pretty good with salt and pepper.

I too felt ill the first few days. It was withdrawl for me and probably is for you as well. Tough it out. It will subside.
As far as breakfast goes, I usually eat left over dinner! I will have eggs though occasionally. Make sure you eat enough or you'll find yourself "freaking out" and start eating everything in sight. Alot of people fail because of this reason. Always have a snack handy. Drink plenty of water. I also have a sweet tooth and find myself snacking on Russel Stover sugar-free candy. They say not to eat them during induction but I did and I still do and I am steadily losing weight. But don't eat alot at one sitting or you'll find yourself living on the toilet! It has a major laxative effect if consumed in large quantities. One is enough to curb the craving.
Good luck, stay on track and watch the pounds melt away!!!!

Are headaches normal now....I am sticking with my induction diet, but my headache is constant. I have taken tylenol and it subsides for a couple of hours and bam, it is back.

Just ate the best tuna and avocado with a bottle water and I feel good, but again it did nothing for my headache. By the way, this is day 2 of induction.

                    Thanks for any feedback,

                    Rose

                      RKENT,
Headaches can be a few things. Withdrawl perhaps or are you drinking enough water. Dehydration causes headaches. Are you eating enough? How's your blood pressure? Did you used to drink alot of caffiene and suddenly stop? It could be caffiene withdrawl.I'm no expert on Atkins, but I've been around the block when in comes to headaches. All those things I've listed has caused me to have headaches. Hope this helps or maybe someone else will have some insight. Good luck !!!

Hi RKent! Like most of us we go through the bathroom runs.. Luckily, I did not get the headache with it! Not only did I want to say :to stick with it: but, if you can purchase Tiger Balm, that will help subside your headache. It is an ointment that is rubbed on your forehead and temples.. It can usually be bought at a drugstore chain for just a few dollars. Good luck on your journey and new lifestyle Robin
