  • Carb & Sugar Free Cheese Pleeeeeeeez ~ here's some to tr

    Hi everyone, :wave

First I do not work for Boars Head lol...although from my posts it would be easy to think I do.

Anyway their cheeses are as good as their meats and a lot of their cheeses you won't find on a carb counter so here's a list of only those cheeses with zero carbs and zero sugar.
    • Baby Swiss
      ButterKaise
      ButterKaise Smoked
      3 year aged Canadian Cheddar
      Coby Jack
      Cream Havarti
      Double Glouster
      Edam
      Feta
      Imported Swiss
      Gouda
      Lacey Swiss
      Longhorn Colby
      Montery Jack Jalapeno
      Montery Jack
      Muenster
      Picante Sharp Provolone
      Vermont Sharp Cheddar

All I can say is YUM and there's a bunch more but I think this is good for a start, if you love cheese being on Atkins is a great motivator for me to try new ones. My favorite Cheddar with Horseradish is an absolute knock out - but it has 2 grams of carbs so it's nono...well, untill OWL

YES YES YES! I *love* Boar's Head meats and cheeses and my favorite is the horseradish cheddar!! YUM! Their Aroustica chicken is out of this world, too. Their meats have absolutely NO sugars and NO fillers - including hot dogs, salami, pepperoni, kielbasa, etc. I have a real "thing" for bologna and thank goodness for Boar's Head because I can eat it again. The closest store to me that carries their products is 15 miles away -- and worth the trip. I can't think of any other food I'd say that about!

There's an 800 customer service number on their web site that you can call to find out if there's a store near you that carries their products. And yes, they even have nitrate-free bacon!

Is cheese not normally sugar free (besides the lactose?) Or are these lactose free cheeses? Many of my cheeses show as 0g of carbs as well but I was under the impression you count 1g of carbs for 1oz of cheese ad per dandr (it's likely it could be .5 or .7 etc?)

      Edited to add:

      From the atkins site (www.atkins.com):

All cheeses have some carbohydrate content. The quantity you eat should be governed by that knowledge. The rule of thumb is to count 1 ounce of cheese as equivalent to 1 gram of carbohydrate.

My favorite Cheddar with Horseradish is an absolute knock out - but it has 2 grams of carbs so it's nono...well, untill OWL
Not sure if horseradish is acceptable in induction but i'm pretty sure it is? maybe someone else could answer this? If so then this cheese wouldn't be an issue...

        Hi Joan! :wave

I absolutely agree with you 100% I wrote a post about the meats and thought the cheese one was a good idea too. As for their meats, they use no fillers or scraps as other cold cut companies do - only Choice quality first cuts and all natural flavorings.

Boars Head prints a beautiful brochure that lists all of their ingredients and percentages, as well as a great recipe booklet - both are usually free at markets who sell Boars Head brand. They're also mail them to you free of charge!

I can't believe you mentioned the horseradish cheddar! My favorite! but it does have 2 grams of carbs per 1 ounce serving...rats!

They have a great website to at www.boarshead.com
