I never did my introductory post, so I'll start with a "Hello!!"
I want to thank everyone for their activity on this board - while I haven't been an active member so far, I've definitely overcome some frustrations and concerns by reading about similar experiences others have had.
Anyway, being a scientifically-minded person, I have a question...here's the history behind it:
I started induction 5 weeks ago, and in two weeks I lost 12 pounds. Of course I was elated by this, but I wasn't so unrealistic to think that this rate of loss would be maintained. So when I went the third week without losing anything (and actually, gaining a couple of pounds back) I wasn't too surprised.
Week 4 went by, and still I had not lost anything. I still stayed on a clean induction, however, determined to wait this 'stall' out. I even got more motivated toward my exercise program to try to push it along.
Week 5 has now come and gone, and I finally lost one more pound. I don't know if that means my stall is broken - I guess I'll find out this week.
So here's my science question. Through all of this time, I have been in the high ketosis level - my ketostix are as purple as they could be. Now, by my understanding of the science, you only release ketones if you are burning stored fat. So in effect, every morning when I tested in the high ketone level, I had proof that stored fat was indeed being metabolized. My question is...if I'm burning it, and loss is not showing in either my weigh-ins or the fit of my clothing, where the heck is the fat going?
Anyway, I'm still not discouraged - I'm not in a rush and not expecting this body change to happen quickly. I'm just curious as to how I can have proof that I'm burning stored fat for two weeks without having any perceivable weight loss.
