  • Calling upon my UK bretheren

    Hi,

I'm going shopping for the month tomorrow and I need me some snacks and quick bites to eat.

I'm not new to Atkins and previously used:

    Babybel
    Pepperami
    Mattesons
    Hot Dog Sausages
    Mustard

As my snack foods, along with eggs, but I'm looking for more products than this small selection that are readily availble in UK shops.

I am trying to avoid cheese, as it tends to slow my weight loss down, and I really don't want to eat eggs or sodium-rich meat to snack on, but at the same time, really need some stuff with flavour and a snacky-like quality to it.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Ta,

Pork Scratchings are good as long as you read the label to make sure they are legal! I find I only need a few to satisfy that snacking feeling!

What about cream cheese - does that have the same affect? Celery and cream cheese is great for breakfast or a snack!

    Good luck!

I'm trying to avoid sodium-rich snacks, which I assume rinds would be?

      Is Philidelphia, cream cheese?

I'm not sure what damage cream cheese would do, to be honest, I don't think I've ever eaten it.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes Phili is cream cheese, I just get generic brand FULL FAT. Be careful you dont pick up light in error..did that myself last week!

Mini Cathedral City, nicer than babybel I recon and 85p a bag at Morrisons-- in 20g portions, ideal! Esp if your worried about cheese stalling

Handy snacks I have found otherwise
        boiled eggs
        veggies/dips
small tuppaware of weighed cherry tomatoes
        Olive pouch

Will keep my eyes peeled for any other ideas about the supermarket! Wish I could think of more specific ideas!! Can be mind boggling!

        Happy shopping

          Hi,

may I ask what dips you use?

I tried cathederal city once, it made me gain, heavily that week!

I steer well clear of it now

Whoops, I forgot to come back and update this.

I did go shopping and to my surprise, there's quite a lot of things to be picked up for anyone trying to do Atkins at an induction level.

I was impressed by the spiced meets and cheeses in Asda and picked up my fair share of new things that weren't on the shevles 5 years ago when i last did Atkins.

I picked up the Philidelphia and got the usual Babyel's and Pepperami's, but it was nice to be met with such variety.

Next thing is to try and cook!
