  • Food for fuel Newbie Question

Hi Guys, as part of my new years resolution i have taken up a challenge to lose more weight than my mum we have holidays pland i march so a bit of friendly competition cant hurt.

My problem is i am very busy. I dont have the time to prepare some of these lovely recipies all over the place 5 days out of 7

i appreciate good food and do enjoy it as a special occasion but dont need it.

I can quite happily eat the same thing day in day out and want to have it simplified. but still want to maximise my success. i realise that this may appear to be sacrilige however

is there anything wrong with for example

150 g of cooked chicken/salmon or ham for breakfast lunch and dinner and 25 green olives as a daily menu

boring and functional I know but would this work ??

    thanks

That is not an Atkins meal~~where are the veggies & the fiber? You are to eat either 3 cups from the list of salad veggies or 2 cups of salad veggies along with 1 cup from the other veggie list. Here is the list

Have you checked out these forums? Read the sticky notes~~lots of great information.

Lots to read & learn here on ADBB. Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution aka DANDR? This forum uses the 2002 version. If you haven't read the book please do!!

Many people pre cook meals on the weekends & freeze them. You can also cut up your veggies ahead of time & bag them up. It is all about planning!

    Good luck on your journey!

I have to agree with Glenda. I don't think that menu would be very successful. You really do have to follow the way of eating properly for it to work. You can eat the meat, but rather than the olives... could you find vegetables that you like and cut them up ahead of time. It is super important to eat veggies so you can stay healthy! Things like fennel and celery are super easy to cut up and have ready. Best wishes to you as you continue on the program.

        I agree with the ladies.
I think you can make it simple and easy but still follow the diet. You just have to think and plan. Some people make food ahead in the weekend to last so they have stuff ready. Other may use slow cookers.
You need to eat well and regularly for this to work. Too many people rely on fast food and processed food because they are busy (and they get over weight and unhealthy from carbs and chemicals) - but real food need not take that much more time.

Re: Food for fuel Newbie Question

I am a very busy person and every 3 days I make chicken breasts or steaks and prepare my breakfasts and lunches 3 days out so all I have to do is grab them from the fridge in the morning and head to work. I encourage you to make the time to put your meals together and find enjoyment in the preparation process. It is quick and easy to bake or grill protein and pour a salad out of a bag.

Hello, irishmidz. No need to be fancy on here. Yes, you can have your chicken and salmon. Just be careful of the sugar that may be in the ham, and realize that there is salt in there that could make you retain water. Also, 25 olives are too many, and see how you do with them to make sure they aren't making you retain water either due to the salt. Make sure you have something green with the chicken and/or salmon, like some lettuce or cabbage or broccoli, or any of the allowed veggies. I actually went to a local Irish place last night, and I had a spinach salad topped with a salmon filet, gorgonzola cheese, bacon, a scattering of cherry tomatoes and a little onion, and I put a little salt and pepper on it and some olive oil and vinegar, and it was delicious! It was supposed to come with a sweet mustard dressing but I asked them to bring the oil and vinegar. They are like family there -- a true Irish pub -- and so it was grand. But at home, just prepare your food; you don't have to go crazy doing it! Plain and simple is fine. All the best...
