  • In the middle of my Induction grocery shop is this allowed?

    Hiya,

Is it okay if I purchased this?

    Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets 800g

    Per 100g Carbs 1.0g Sugar 0.1g

Salmon is quite expensive over here. There are ones with no carbs or sugar but they're double the price and last time I looked I wasn't Rockefeller!

well.. it is a no no for sugar as a matter of fact.. You can always keep it in the freezer for later.. Why don't you try tuna in olive oil or sunflower oil? I think tesco and such they do have their own tuna cans which work out quite cheap (it is been a long time since my visit to tesco, so I am not sure if the prices are still ok).. Just make sure, it is no sugar or carbs added..although if you do not take the brine one it shouldn't be..

p.s. Just remembered they used to do salmon in a can check it out..

Thanks, I've removed the salmon from my basket. I haven't got to the tinned fish section yet but do love canned tuna in sunflower oil. When I was doing my low fat diet I could only have tuna in brine which just tasted wrong!

So did they inject the salmon with something? Salmon should not have carbs. Check the ingredient list next time if you are in doubt. Tuna is yummy too.

Liv, the carbs are coming from the preservative.. sugar is usually the most commonly used preservative along with lemon juice and such..all of which contain carbohydrates

I hate it when they do that. Ruin perfect food with sugar. Done a lot with chicken too. Right?

mmm.. canned salmon is perfect for salmon muffins (easy on-the-go breakfast).

yeah..they put sugars, starch, and lemon juice in many canned food as well as in "fresh" food also.. Best thing is to buy the fresh ones in the trays..

Salmon muffins Lyssie? Sounds intriguing. Love to hear more about it.
