  • ~~ATKINS INDUCTION PHASE RULES~~

    :guns Atkins Induction Phase :guns

Depending on how much weight you need to lose, the induction phase lasts for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of one year. You can generally expect to lose 10% of your excess weight during the first 14 days of induction. Atkins enthusiasts recommend that you follow Induction until you have lost half of the weight you need to lose, and then go on to complete the Ongoing Weight Loss portion of the diet. The rules of induction are simple, and must be followed exactly. With induction, even "just ONE little bite" of something not on the induction list will doom you to failure. With all of the fabulous, no-carb goodies available, there’s no need to cheat!

The Rules of Atkins Induction :

    • Have three meals a day or up to six mini-meals, depending on how you feel. Do not skip meals or go more than six waking hours without eating.

    • Eat liberally of combinations of fat and protein in the form of poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs and red meat, as well as pure, natural fat in the form of butter, mayonnaise, olive oil, safflower, sunflower and other vegetable oils (preferably expeller-pressed or cold-pressed)................

I copied this from: http://www.the-atkins-diet.info/atki...tion-phase.htm If you'll like to read the whole list, please click on the link.
Its helpful to me, and its a quick list to keep you in line.
    Goodluck Everbody!! :joy

Thanks for the reminder!! This is perfect for me as I will be starting induction on Sunday! I especially like the part of staying on induction until I reach the "halfway" mark of my goal weight!

Good idea to post this reminder Nikki, thank you. :hug

But I just thought I ought to mention (in case anyone reading this is not aware of it) that the Atkins (or other companies' brands) 'fabulous no-carb goodies' are well-known to stall some people - as mentioned on the atkins.com site.

So here on the 14-day induction forum we recommend NOT eating them during your first 14 days on induction to give your body the best chance at starting to lose weight.

When you are either moving to OWL or continuing on extended induction you can then try those with ingredients allowed on whichever stage of Atkins you are on and see how they affect you. But do check that the ingredients are OK as for example soy products or wheat products are not allowed till the relevant rung of OWL!!

Apart from being known to stall some people they do contain a large amount of sweetener of which you should only be having up to 3 servings per day too!! Part of induction is allowing your body to lose your sweet tooth if you have one!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

:hug I agree with you totally Elizellen about the not eating those low carb goodies. I CANNOT trust myself to taste anything sweet, being the artificial sweetners etc.. So I steer clear away, and I am so glad that you said that, because I do believe that has always been my downfall into craving more in general.
