I have decided to give it another week and if nothing changes, start looking at some other diets.
You may want to post your menu in the "Review My Menu" forum for us to take a look. If you do so, don't forget to mention quantities for every food. It would also be useful to know how much water you are drinking and whether you are exercising.

Even Dr. Atkins said that his diet was not for everyone. You have to at least believe that this is something you could do for a lifetime for it to work.

I did start out not liking: meat, mayo, cream cheese, sour cream, avocado, pork rinds, breakfast and many other Atkins foods, but I kept trying them until I learned to like them, some of them too much.

If you don't think you can stick it out until you can cultivate a taste for Atkins foods, then you are right to seek out the diet you can live with for the rest of your life.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I can understand your frustration. It's my second time around too, but wholeheartedly this time. I was expecting a bigger loss too, but the other posters reminded me that it doesn't come off as quick as we want it to, and it did take us awhile to put it on.
I get frustrated with the ketosis stix. They come and go and I've decided that as long as I am sweatin like a farm animal, SOMETHING is getting burned off.
I too DETEST veggies so I feel limited to the meat and cheese thing. I'm a lazy and terrible cook, but I keep plugging away at it. I've searched the web for low carb recipies and have found some pretty snazzy ones. They sneak in those horrid veggies and give me a spin on the egg thing So simple even I can handle them.

Don't give up. I wanted to the other day but read some other posts and got my ambition back. We're all in this together. Remember that ANY loss is still a LOSS, which is the goal, right?

Hope you are doing better.... vent ANYTIME, I say

I think all of us have been through some form of what you are going through. It's difficult to make any lifestyle change. I think Forrest (FwL) had the best advice. Take a step back and look at what you've done for the last two weeks. If you are eating things that you truly don't like and you don't think you can make this a true lifestyle change, then it's very possible that this is not the WOE for you. While I love the things that I will be giving up for awhile - breads and pastas and potatoes - I also love red meat, poultry, seafood, and many different veggies, so I know I can make this work (and have before). If this weren't true, I'd be on WW or something similar.

Having said that, I think you definitely have the right to vent. Many of us do (just take a look at the journals). There are lots of people willing to give advice, some advice is just very different from others. There are days when I have a right old tantrum in my journal, and then I feel better. Maybe starting a journal would help...

Re: Ready to give up! (vent warning)

The first time I tried Atkins 5 years ago the scale did not move not one single pound for 13 days, then on day 14 when I weighed suddenly I showed a 10 pound weight loss! The Wooshie Fairy had paid me a very nice visit!!!!

This time around, I too have been discouraged but it is simply because I sometimes cannot be very patient. I restarted on May 4 and as of today I have lost a total of 5.4 pounds, which is really not bad when you look at it. But my problem is that I have been a slave to the scale and it moving up and down, up and down really ticks me off, LOL!!! In reading one of the threads yesterday I came across one that said that you can expect to lose 5-10% of the amount of the weight that you need to lose on induction...So for me, I realistically need to lose 50 pounds...well 5% is 2.5 pounds and the 10% is 5 pounds.....so I really cannot complain!

What we have to remember is that we did not put all this weight on overnight, in one week, 2 weeks or even a month therefore we should not expect to lose it overnight, etc...

Evidently SOMETHING is working. Look, so you didn't lose a ton of weight..big deal. You *did* lose 3 lbs. That's 3lbs less that you'll have to deal with in the future. Why not be positive and pat yourself on the back for the loss and go on? It's much more productive than pitching a fit.

Actually, I have never seen the diet not work for someone. A couple of quick suggestions

                A) Have you read the Atkins book? If not go find some second hand book store, or visit your local library

                B) Are you drinking diet soda with aspartame? It can kill weight loss for some people

                C) Are you keeping a daily log of your diet? You would be amazed how little carbs sneak in they too can kill weight loss

                D) Stick around here and ask questions about anything you need too. This was an amazing tool for me the first time through

Sorry about your frustration, I completely understand.

                  What the ****?
I don't even feel like going into it.
my stupid boyfriend lost like 10 pounds LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO and i'm all trying to convince him i haven't been cheating all the time! seriously about to cry here. I've been using ketostix everyday and they're always pink and purple. what the ****? the first time i did atkins back in 2003 it did NOT go like this.
i don't want any more friggin gross chicken or sausage or beef or cheese! there was the hugest artery in my chicken the other day... now i'm about to vomit AND cry. i'm sick of cheese, i can't go number 2 no matter what i take and i'm a friggin fart machine! This just isn't worth it anymore.

now i remember why i've given up on this so many times!!! I HATE the food and it doesn't work for me! maybe it's my thyroid, who knows but i'm not doing anything wrong. If i'm gonna lose 1.5 pounds a week i'll go back to stupid weight watchers where i can eat stuff that doesn't make me want to barf and I'm able to go to the bathroom everyday. and p.s. even the thought of salad or vegetables just makes me want to starve. i've been eating plenty of that crap too.

no has to reply to this or ask what i'm doing that could be making it not work so great- i just had to get it OUT! what a miserable disappointing 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way I this is my third time around. I NEVER lost any weight until three weeks in. Then it came off like crazy. We all have different chemical compositions. Dont judge your success by your boyfriends, or your experience it works, but it works different for different people. Because no two people are alike

Its funny how we (me included!) don't think 3 lbs is very much...try carying around a 3lb dumbell (or whatever) for one whole day - you'll learn to appreciate 3 lbs a whole lot more. Or open the fridge & take a good look at a lb of butter - that's what a pound of fat looks like - one less of those can only be a good thing!

I feel like giving up too, but you know what I am going to stick with it for a few weeks longer and see what happens, everyone swears that the weight will start dropping off and my curiousity has gotten the best of me. I am on an extended induction and this is my 20 day, haven't really lost any weight and my keostix are turning beige. I have not cheated one little bit and have now cut out all veggies just to see if I can make the keostix change color. All I am eating is meat, cheese, and eggs. It is very boring and belive me I sure as heck feel like throwing in the towel. But I will kick myself in the butt if I didn't give it a really good chance to start working. A friend of mine lost 16lbs in 2 weeks. I have lost nothing, if that isn't a kick in the teeth!!!!! But, I am trying all kinds of different cheeses and making salmon salad, egg salad, chicken salad, I was piling it on celery but not now, I am also trying all kinds of different cheeses. I actualy really like the food just wish it would start to work. Don't give up, you can do it. Be strong you wont regret it!!!!!! I know you can do it. And we are alll here with you. Maybe go to the reciepe section there is sooooo much variety etc.... that might help you. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Even if you didn't lose a single pound, it's about making a change for the better. Maybe Atkins isn't for you, it's definitely a lifestyle and not a diet. If you don't like the food now, then maybe you should try something else. Whatever happens, whatever lifestyle, whatever diet, I wish you the best, and you have my support.

I think you should definitely try to sort out your constipation. That's extra weight you're carrying around, just for starters. You can have ground flax (sprinkled on salads, made into crackers or other things) to help with this. If you go the flax route, be sure to drink lots with it... otherwise you risk the opposite effect.

                                I'd also post a menu.
