  • Daily Allowance Guidlines

I don't have the book yet and I am trying to manage until I do. I would like to know if there are any guidlines as to how much our fat, sodium and protein should be limited to per per day. I seem to be have hit a brick wall here.

My blood sugar was dropping but now it seems to be going up again. I was losing weight but now I seem to be gaining and losing the same pound.

I am going to try and eat more chicken and fish. I have been eating beef the last 3 days and I think that may have something to do with it and maybe the sodium content.

    Any advice and information please.

    Re: Daily Allowance Guidlines

On induction we try to get 65% of our calories from fats 30 from protein and 5 from carbs. That is sort of a guideline.
It is normal to see a pause after induction and you should probably stick to your diet and not try to change it radically it is normal.

Maybe share a more complete sample menu of what you eat?

Here is a sample of meals and snacks for a typical day.

Breakfast: 3 egg omelette with mushrooms and cheese or 3 egg shake with 3oz cream 1 splenda packet and vanilla

        Snack: Cheese about 2oz.

Lunch: Chicken, sardines or turkey, 1 dill pickle,

        Snack: 1 cup pork rinds

Supper: Grilled meat no sauce, usually broccolli,

Snack: cheese or boiled egg or egg shake if I didn't have one for breakfast.

I usually don't measure the meat but try to keep track the vegetables because of the carb level.

Sodium is a real problem I think.

I did weigh this morning and I am past that 1 pound that I have been fighting with.

I am going to try and find the book tonight.

You also need to count the carbs in the cream, eggs, cheese, artifical sugar and spices.

You should eat your three cups of veggies. Veggies may help you lose more so keep those in your menu.

With a fair amount of cream and cheese you may be eating a lot. I would place the whole thing into FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and see how it all comes out.

Yeah, I do believe that with the pork rinds, pickle, sardines, seasonings, and cheese (some cheeses are pretty high in sodium)...you may be too high on sodium. Make sure to drink plenty of water and check how much salt you are applying to things too. I agree with Liv, your dairy may be a bit high possibly too. Maybe add a cup or two of salad at lunch?

I have never made an egg shake, can you describe how you make that? Is it basically thick raw eggs?

              Re: Daily Allowance Guidlines

I did my foods for today into fit day and the percentages were Fat 67% Carb 7% Protein 26% so I am a little off on percentages but not bad. So I just need to pay more attention to my dairy amounts. I did get the book and I am reading it also so maybe that will help. Thanks for the info.

                  Re: Daily Allowance Guidlines

Your percentages are fine so probably no need for too much 'tweaking'.

They are not actually part of the rules as laid down in DANDR but were arrived at during a Duke's University study when they analysed the induction menus in the book, so as long as you follow the rules in DANDR you should not go far wrong

I didnt hear about the precentages till I had been Atkineering for more than a year but when I looked at my fitday account I found my percentages on induction had always been about those numbers without thinking about them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
