  • only 5 lbs to lose, trying atkins again

    I have lost over 35 pounds dieting and exercising various ways ( i get bored to easily so I had to mix it up ). Lately I can't seem to get rid of these last 5 pounds so I am trying Atkins again. I work out religiously 7 days a week ( I follow a strength training program 5 days a week and run 3 miles almost every other day and during strength training rest days ).

    I eat 3 square meals. I am on my 4th day of Induction/Kekwick - I hope I spelled it right. What I mean is when im super hungry from lifting weights I eat rotisserie chicken with the skin and fat and everything else, I take a multivitamin a day every day, and on the days when I'm not so hungry I eat one cream cheese block(300 calories) wrapped in ham - almost like a ham/cream cheese hot dog? lol

    Anyhow, any suggestions? Is anyone else struggling with those last 5 pounds? When I started Atkins again I actually fluctuated to 107 but then went back down to 104.6 ~ 105 lbs, must have been the sodium intake switch.

    Comments: I am not drinking anything besides water. So my diet at the moment consists of rotisserie chicken with skin and fat, cream cheese and smoked sliced ham. Boring but I want to stick to a clean shot.

    Any comments appreciated.

    No vegetables? Don't get me wrong, you exercise a lot, but if all your diet consists of is rotisserie chicken, sliced ham, and some cream cheese, you might be in for some health problems down the road - like malnutrition.

    Kudo's to you for maintaining a 35+ lb weight loss though, that's something to be proud of.

    Goal 1 - 10% (September 13th, 2009)
    Goal 2 - Pre-Pregnancy Weight with 2nd Child (September 27th, 2009)
    Goal 3 - 50 lbs down (December 1st, 2009)
    Goal 4 - Highest Pregnancy Weight with 1st right before c-section (February 20, 2010)
    Goal 5 - Lowest weight reached on WW after having 1st child
    Goal 6 - 100 lbs down
    Goal 7 - Pre-pregnancy weight with 1st
    Goal 8 - Weight I met my husband
    Goal 9 - 150 lbs down
    Goal 10 - Weight in Grade 8
    Goal 11 - Weight in Grade 6

      well I do eat veggies, i was eating veggies, I just started "induction/kekwick" - its my 4th day - i'm just trying to shave off those last 5 pounds, otherwise I am a mad celery addict - best veggie out there for nutritional value vs calories

        I am sure that many here have struggled with the last bit of weight. But not that many are trying to become quite as small as you are. Neither do we really support doing things like just eat chicken and ham to lose weight. We recommend eating balanced (but low carb) which means some veggies, some protein and plenty of fat. Anything else is really not Atkins.

          The Fat Fast was meant for people with severe metabolic resistance to weight loss. You don't have that problem. So the Fat Fast is inappropriate for you to do.

          By the way, the last 5-10 pounds are the hardest to lose.

            well thats exactly right, I have hit a wall, I workout a ton but I havent budged the scale in a month, thats 4 weeks of hardcore working out, been STUCK at 105, wouldnt that be called being metabolically resistant? Like being stuck in a runners rut, some call it that way.

              No. You determine your degree of metabolic resistance based on your Induction weight loss results, assuming you are following Induction correctly.
