I suppose that sounds like a really silly thing to be all excited about, but I really am!
I went on a cross-border shopping trip today, to pick up some of the American goodies I just can't find here in Canada, like sugar-free syrup (for when I'm in OWL as a treat!) and zero-carb bacon. Before I left, I had my 2 eggs and homemade sausage patties like I do most mornings since starting. That was at 10am.
Well, 6pm rolled around, I was still almost 2 hours away from home, and I realized I hadn't eaten anything all day since breakfast. 8 hours - not good. No carbs really either. I was feeling lightheaded, and realized that it was time to stop and get some food, regardless of whether I wanted to or not.
I stopped at McDonald's (it was all I could find) and picked the safest thing I could see on the menu - a grilled chicken Caesar salad (about 10g net carbs if I didn't eat the crunchy things - I tossed those out) About 20 minutes after finishing eating, my lightheadedness vanished.
I was ecstatic. I'd never felt that before! Usually when it's been 8 hours since I've eaten, I'm headachey and cranky and am craving sugar like mad. This was the first time I'd ever felt truly lightheaded. It was also the first time that I could really FEEL that my blood sugar was too low.
In the past, I would be popping high carb junk in my mouth, and wouldn't be feeling any better at all after eating. This time though, I felt great 20 minutes after I was done.
This is SO COOL! I'd never heard my body talk to me like that before. It was always dealing with whatever sugary crap I'd given it to work with. Atkins is giving me the chance to really feel hunger, to understand when I need to eat, and what makes my body feel good.

That's more than I have in an entire day!!!). Do you just ask for no bun or do they know what low carb style is?
