So I'm on day 10 of induction, and so far I've done it to a "T". I've lost 4 lbs, and am feeling great. I even managed to stay away from birthday cake (my own!) a giant chocolate chip cookie that accompanied it.
I went to the doctor today to get all my baseline bloodwork done. My appt. was at 10:00, and I knew not to eat anything before. (BTW, I have an amazing doctor. He sat with me for a half-hour, going over every single aspect of my health. He had his computer tablet/laptop with him, and we went through everything: what blood tests I should have done, how my family history is affecting my health, what his action plan is for me while I'm on Atkins, what additional supplements I should take, etc., etc., etc. Then he's going to email me my results with an optimum wellness plan to help support me on my diet. And this is a regular ol' internal medicine doctor!)
I love him.
Anyway (sorry for the thread drift), they ended up drawing 6 vials of blood. I felt a bit weak afterwards, but not too badly. When I got home, I ate a hard boiled egg and a piece of sausage, and drank tons of water. Then I went to the park for my regular 2 mile hike. Only I got sick. I was nauseous, as well as lightheaded and shaky. I was able to make it back to the car and then home, where I then drank more water and ate a piece of string cheese and some celery.
My plan was to have a salad for lunch, but I was just feeling so rotten. I napped a bit, and couldn't shake the dizzy, sick feeling. So what did I do? I poured myself a bowl of Kashi cereal with milk and ate it.
(sigh) Yes, two hours later and I feel great, and I plan to go right back to a healthy, Induction-friendly dinner. But I could kick myself. I usually can give blood at the doctor's with no problem (although I can't give blood to the Red Cross, because I always faint). Moot point. Bottom line is that I messed up.
I'm beating myself up over it, but I'm wondering how much I've ruined my past 10-day effort.
Question: Have you guys messed up? And if so, how badly did it affect you? What were you thinking at the time, and did you delve right back in with success???
Thanks much! I appreciate the support...
