  • how many grams of Fat should I eat?

    I use the dailyplate.com to keep my menu on track,I notice that I usually have 50-70g of fat and 130-150g protein per day,is it too much protein?

    Here's my menu.

    Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs/2 slices of lean turkey bacon(Oscar Mayer)
    Cucumber 350g
    2 tbsp mayonnaise
    Decaff coffee/1 packer of splenda/2 tsp cream

    Lunch: 2 hard boiled eggs
    Liquid Egg White drink(made with pure egg white,no sugar in it)

    Dinner:Chinese flowering cabbage/bok choy 250g
    catfish or tuna fish 250g

    Water:100-120oz
    Exercise:jogging 45-60mins

    I didn't drink enough water in the first round of induction,so I start over again,my period finally come,i think water retention is gone,I lose 2lbs only out of those 7lbs I gained before though.

    It's really more about the % as compared to your total calories, not the actual grams.

    Be careful of dailyplate ... especially entries that are user-entered ... they may not be accurate.

    Your menu above doesn't seem as if there's enough vegetables.

    How many net carbs is all that? How much net carbs of vegetables do you have?

      This isn't Atkins.. Why lean bacon?
      Go normal bacon. And the egg white shake is unnecessary, eat the whole egg, fry it in butter.
      Its hard to think high fat but you get used to it =) good work on the exercise.

        Many people find it best to eat veggies with each meal....fry a couple eggs for breakfast and add peppers, onion or whatever else sounds good to you. Turkey bacon isn't necessary - eat regular bacon.

        For lunch eat food, don't drink your meal - make a salad and take it with you to get additional vegetables in for the day - add chicken, beef or other protein to the salad so you're eating enough daily.

        You don't say how much fat you use when cooking but it looks like you are lacking in the fat area also. Make some green beans or broccoli and add bacon fat to cook it -- or butter - make sure you eat 1 cup of veggies from the 2nd list - not just salad vegetables.

        You should re-read the book and refresh your memory on the foods (fats, protein and carbs) and amounts of everything you should be eating. You don't say how much you have to loose - the less you have to loose the slower your weight loss will be. Try more than 1 type of exercise, your body will get use to 1 thing easily - when you shake things up your body has to work harder.

          Net carb about my veggie intake around 15g-17g,cuz the cucumber I eat in the morning is huge,around 350-375g.
          I've been doing Induction more than a month,but I guess I ate too many chicken wings and fat but not enough water and veggie last month,so I end up gained 7lbs(PMS problem as well).It kind of stopping me to eat regular bacon and deep fried things.

            I actually love regular bacon and wings but everytime I start eating them,I can't stop,I can eat way more than I should,turkey bacon is not as good as regular one,but after 2 pieces,I'm satisfied and not crave for more!

              Yes that is too much protein. Your fat levels should be higher your protein could be lower. In grams you should probably eat the same amount of protein and fat.

                yes, I agree with all the above.. dont be frightened of fat.
                Atkins is a high fat diet not a high protein diet.

                I eat about the same grams of fat and protein... over 100g of both but of course the calories from fat are much higher as a percentage.

                I found I lost more weight as I increased my carbs for some reason - Im currently on about 60-70g of carbs per day and still in ketosis and experimenting with adding in small amounts of apple.... but the vast majority of my calories (about 60%) still come from fats of all kinds - animal and vegetable/nut.

                    I know.... but...

                    Im feeling apprehensive about actually comitting myself to rung 7

                    I know its only fructose, but its still a simple sugar and Im worried that it'll stall me. I can only try... I have plenty of great choices for food now.

                        no, Ive been on six for a while, I did update to that level. I skipped five, just don't like the idea of fat metabolism being put on hold while I process the alcohol, also it gives me bad cravings about two hours later.
                        I found I needed to go up the rungs fairly quickly, I added in a level every five or six days and monitored ketosis. On low levels of carbs (less than fifty) I felt a bit foggy and found exercise hard ( I run up to an hour a day and lift weights)
                        On 70g carbs I feel great! Sugars and refined carbs worry me, Im happy to stick on 6 if I need to... fruit would be handy as a quick "on the go" carb.... macadamia nuts, a few slices of apple and some home made beef jerky, easy!
