  • 28 lbs in 1-1/2 months?

hey everyone i tried starting this diet a few days ago and i keep messing it all up.. but im starting fresh today! i want to lose about 28 pounds in a month and a half to two months, you think thats possible on this diet? im going to eat mostly vegetables for the diet and then for protein a little bit of chicken and fish. i dont really like the other kinds of meat and such. ive heard that when you dont have that much to lose it takes a lot longer, but im planning on staying on induction until i lose it. good idea? i really want to lose this within 1 1/2 months!! any advice or help?? im working out every morning as well!! i like to do the elliptical for about 2 hours plus some strength training things too!! thanks everybody, i really need support with this!! <33

If you're looking for a quick fix, Atkins is not the right diet for you. Atkins is a way of eating for life.

Atkins is a high fat diet.

    Bad.

You need to read the book, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

Re: 28 lbs in 1-1/2 months?

Hi Natalie Welcome to our ADBB family

As a teenager you do need to make sure you are getting the right amount of nutrition, so it will be important to use one of the food logging websites to make sure what vital nutrients you are getting with the foods you choose to eat.

With a hoped-for loss of 28 pounds a 'normal' sort of loss in the 14 days of induction would probably be about 2-4 pounds, depending on whether you have been 'dieting' before starting induction, as you might not have much in the way of 'water-weight' to lose.

However if you continue eating to plan, move on to the next phase (ongoing weight loss/OWL) , exercise and drink your water I am sure you will have made great inroads into those excess pounds by your 'deadline'.

Another good thing is that on a lowcarb eating plan (high fat/medium protein/lowcarb) like Atkins many people find they drop inches even if/when the scales tell them they are not dropping pounds!

So even if you don't manage to drop the pounds by then your body might look as if you have!! Weightlifting is supposed to be the best sort of exercise to resculpt your body by the way, so add soem if you are not already lifting.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
