  • Day 14. Should I move on or continue ... ?

Today is my 14th day of my New Dietary Lifestyle Change.

As I have read in other threads (that are now closed - otherwise I would have posted there), I got a 'week long visit from Tom' during my second week of induction. During that time, I was stagnant. No weight gain, but no weight loss either.

So, having said that, should I just start week 2 over again? I am not having any difficulties with the foods or anything else. Just want to know if I should consider this "starting over" or "extended induction".

Opinions? and I do appreciate your opinions!

You can't. Time cannot be repeated!

    I would move to OWL.

After all, you can't "restart" every time TOM arrives!

I would think to continue with Induction as long as your enjoying the food and having no issues.

Don't worry about having a slow second week. That is fairly common as our bodies are adjusting to this new lifestyle.

Desertthorn <- I'm not worried about a slow second week. I guess I was just trying to place a 'mind set' of 'the second week didn't count' (apologies of that doesn't make sense).

        Thank you both!!

I have decided to stay in Induction for this week ... then, possibly move on to OWL.

So, needless to say, See You Around the Forum! ~<{)

            Why possibly?

What do you think is wrong with an extra 5 net carbs worth of Induction vegetables?

Re: Day 14. Should I move one or continue ... ?

Congratulations on the loss so far!

I hope you have read Chapters 12 and 13 in DANDR 2002. As it's explained there, enjoying your foods and being "okay" with Induction are not the only reasons that should keep one from moving to OWL.

Your loss shows that you are not metabolically resistant, so you do not need to stay on Induction longer in order to correct metabolic imbalances.

And with less than 50 lbs to lose, staying on Induction thinking you'll lose weight faster this way is not a good strategy, imo. OWL takes a very long time... and taking the time to learn what and how you can eat for life is essential to long term success.

Plus, there's no guarantee you'll lose weight faster by staying on Induction.

Also... 5 net carbs of vegetables added to your current menu will come packed with nutrients good for your metabolism and for your overall health... and I've rarely seen people slowed down by their first extra 5 net carbs.

on;y you can determine if it is time to move to OWL or not. Dr Atkins has some questions ofr you in chapter 13 that can help you decide.

Some folk becaasue their induction food choices were defieicnet in vits and minerals actually sped up their loss by correcting that issue with the added vitsand minerals from doing OWL and eating more veggies, fresh dairy, nuts and berris of the first 4 rungs.

Dr Atkins says based on his experienxce that those who do all 4 phases of his plan do better remaining a life long goalie then those who don't so whatever you decide today don't make the mistake of staying on induction too long cause you got a whole house of Atkins eating to build now that your foundation is built from induction.

I have not been on the bulletin board for a while and have stayed in induction ... and you're all right ... I have not lost ANY weight in the last week!

I will read chapter 13 as suggested (anyone have it online as I can't seem to locate my book!). Also, I printed The OWL Carbohydrate Ladder post from the other forum.

                  Thanks bunches!

Not as far as I know.

If you can't find your book, I'd suggest you get a new one as soon as possible.

Re: Day 14. Should I move on or continue ... ?

I hate to move on because I'm so mentally comfortable right here at induction and am a bit fearful about moving on. I'm doing so very well both mentally and physically that I hate to rock that boat in any way.

However, as was pointed out by one of the successful Atkins dieters, it's only five measly carbs and it's in the form of vegetables. So, that would mean I could have more string beans, I just love those string beans. So I'm going for it.

Awesome, Good for you. If your comfy where you are, just think about it as Extended induction with a bit more veggies.
