  • Importance of Reccomended Vitamins

What is the importance of the reccomended Vitamins? I already take an iron (iron troubles - despite the large amound of green leafys and red meat I consume, so I will stay on that) and I also take a prenatal. (Not pregg, but eventually want to get there - and prenatals are highly reccomended by my obgyn) Also - the prenatal seems to just be a good all around vit.

Will I lose faster if I take the right vitamins? Am I doing myself a dis-service by not taking them>

I think what you are taking sounds good enough. I sometimes take a bit more potassium and magnesium and vit D but they is usually times where I feel I need them.
I think for most people getting nutrients is a key to lose weight. But getting them from foods is likely more beneficial. So eat your veggies and a variety of the.

Thanks. I didn't know WHAT I should take, and I didn't want to overdo it.

I also forgot to mention that I take a daily magnesium supplement - it really has cut down on my headaches/migranes!

You can never go wrong with a multi-vitamin. I take One-a-Day Mens. I don't eat a lot of veggies tho (my veggie carbs come from tomato paste), so I have to take one.

many vits and minerals are used by the human body in a way that might not be metabolically related but being deficient in that vit or mineral can cause a chain reaction in the body that can effect metabolism.

also with the 3 cup limit on veggies and most folk not making wise vitamin rich choices it is easy to get deficient duting induction. One thing you could do is plug your vits into fitday as a custom food and eat one each day. then your vit nutrition report will show what you truely are lacking in.

With your iron issues be sure to pick some vit C rich veggies like peppers to aide your iron absorption
