Re: Stank breath?
there are many reasons to have body oder and bad breath that are not caused by healthy atkins eating. Some folk don't drink enough water, have poor kidney function and/or eat too much protein and then smell from the nitrogen part of the protein molecules building up as waste product in the body.
Some folk eat lots of foods with volitle oils that will be off gassed in sweat and breath such as onions, broccolli, garlic, etc. supposedly eating parsley and other foods high in chlorophyll will help with that.
last it could be skin bacteria working on the oils in the sweat of your apocrine glands
the ketones that we exhale should smell like every weak fingernail polish remover as it is acetone a body waste product.
ask your dad what the smell was like vinegar, amonia, or locker roomby the book atkinseer

Re: Stank breath?
Im guessing locker room ..the way he was talking made it seem like i had a funk. The protein theory sounds about right im loading up high on it. bacon eggs in the morning whey in the mid afternoon some nuts and cheese cubes here and there. dinner early is usually meat with portion of mixed veggies then casein shake before bed to keep my metabolism going whle im sleeping.Atkins Start date: 02/16/2010

Re: Stank breath?
protein would have been amonia smell
Lockerroom would be two issues. lots of male pheromones in the sweat ( made of proteins and fatty acids) and lots of salts in your sweat keeping the bacteria from consuming the proteins and fatty acids from your apocrine glands. Shower and antipersperant should do the job and if you wear natural fiber clothing to allow the sweat to evaporate from the rest of your body so it stays dry and not many bacteria grow on your skin and feed.
you do know that you are not eating the atkins plan based on the foods you just listed.
BTW you do not want a protein shake before bed to keep your metabolism running if you are trying to shed body fat cause protein for fuel is a sugar method and that sugar method causes insulin to be released and insulin is a fat storing hormone. Your metabolism will be running all night on body fats for fuelburning if you skip the protein shake. If you are hungry at bed time eat some high fat food.

Re: Stank breath?
actually it isn't. Atkins ketosis breath is a very mild case of exhaled acetone. all the bad breath is other causes everything from too much protein to poor oral healthOriginally posted by BigSmooth View PostGet used to the bad breath, it's almost inevitable.by the book atkinseer

Re: Stank breath?
breath is more like metal mouth. What am i doing then? or how is it wrong ill adjust it. i might be misinterpreting it. My grandma gave me an atkins book much older that said 30g carbs during induction,so from what you guys say and the books says i stay between.so salty locker room smell prolly from bacon im assuming and it coming through my pores. sounds weird but i shaved my pits also. Its a trick i know as a guy to keep body oder from lingering.Originally posted by 2big4mysize View Postprotein would have been amonia smell

As far as the protein before bed i shoulve rephrased it better but also because im working out much harder like back in school. its how i was taught protein building muscle, muscle building as you sleep. keeping metabolism up. I do no kind of white food or anything like it. no soda. its all kinda clean a lil salty,i only do dark greens.Oh 80 0z of water a day,but where am i going wrong? The cheese and nuts are less then what it recomends on package as a serving. i dont know.Atkins Start date: 02/16/2010

Re: Stank breath?
Atkins is not a high protein diet, but high fat. Part of the excess protein can be converted to glucose and therefore interfere with lipolysis/fat burning.
During Induction, your fat intake should be more or less 65% of your daily calories.
Nuts are not allowed on Induction in the 2002 plan. We follow the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution here.
Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day.
I don't know what's in your "mixed veggies" and how much of them you eat, but I doubt you are eating enough vegetables. Over half of your daily net carbs (total carbs minus dietary fiber) should come from vegetables.
Also, it's better to spread your vegetables throughout the day instead of eating them all in one meal."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Stank breath?
As it was pointed out already, almonds are not allowed on Induction.
Over half of your daily net carbs should come from vegetables, which is not happening now.
Three cups of spinach is not a good choice for your vegetables. Here are the Rules of Induction:
And the Acceptable Foods List:
Your protein is too high. Roughly 65% of your daily calories should come from fat.
Cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces per day.
It's better to use the entry for "eggs, whole, raw" and add separately the other ingredients you used in cooking. FitDay assumes you are using milk and margarine, so the carbs are higher.
5.3 net carbs from those breakfast links you are eating is too much. I assume you haven't read the ingredients, so do it. I'm sure you'll see several that are not acceptable on Induction.
More water might help with your breath. 80 oz is not much."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
