  • fitday or thedailyplate?

Not sure if this should be in the general forum or not, so please advise if I'm in the wrong place...

I've been using thedailyplate for quite some time to track my food and calories. I even have the iPhone app. I love it! Makes it so easy when I'm out, because I KNOW I will forget to count something. It will also break down macros by percentage for me. I see that fitday is what's recommended around ADBB and was wondering if it is superior to what I'm using? Does it have some functionality that is more beneficial to this WOE? Just wondering because I'll switch to fitday if it's better, but I really like having the app on my phone when I'm on the go..

    Thanks for the advice!

Lost 100lbs+ since May '09 with a variety of methods, calorie counting, low fat, low carb (not Atkins strict), zig zagging, etc. Would switch up diet and exercise as I stalled to reboot loss. Prior to Atkins I was about 1000cals/day, exercising fairly hard and NOT losing...so here I am to finish the job.

The Daily Plate ... what's the source of their information?

If it's not the USDA (if it's user entries), they may not be accurate.

Fatsecret has an app and also uses the USDA database.

You might want to try that out.

OOOH, okay, I'll check out fatsecret! Awesome. thedailyplate allows users to input information but they also have many at the beginning of the section that say "verified" which means the accuracy was checked so I select those items. Really at the time, my biggest concern was just calories and I usually "knew" by looking if the calories for an item looked right or not. What I really liked was the amount of restaurant, fast food items they have in there so I could track that grilled chicken salad with no croutons that I might have had at Sonic for example. I'll give fatsecret a look-see. Thanks!

I've seen some "verified" entries at dailyplate.com which were actually wrong...
