I have completed over 90 miles during March, the goal was 120 but I had a couple of weeks that I just did not have the energy. April will see 120 miles traveled (this is both treadmill and stationary bike). I'm not going to add weights just yet, I will, but not until I'm back in my gym.

I will add more foods as I go on, but I will do it in little doses, I am keeping my carbs pretty low right now (under 20) and will continue until one of two things change, I stop losing or I am bored with my selections, this has not happened yet. I have 4 more days of eating the way I am now until I look at this situation and decide if I will add more or continue what I'm doing, I'm happy where I am and am losing daily (I'm down to 273.1 today) so I really can't complain, this is working for me, I am healthy and happy with my food decisions, so far so good.

Thanks for the input all, I take everything to heart.

I did extended induction for 6 months and enjoyed every day ot if. like you say you will I wanted other foods so I moved to OWL and added more choices. If you have your DANDR handy there are 4 questions in chapter 13 you shoud ask yourself daily and then based on the answeres to those questions you will know when it is time to move. I thought I wanted bread so I moved. it was the right thing to do for me cause I could no longer say I was happy with the limited food choices.

      Re: You were all right

Wow that is a big difference from the new version to the old. I just bought the new one a couple weeks ago and came to this board to find out that the 2002 is much better.

I am waiting on it to arrive so I have been searching these boards to see what I can do differently in the meantime.

What is the major difference between the 2 of them during induction phase?

Keep up the good work!!! If I lost 30 pounds in a month, I think I'd have a heart attack just from the excitement!!! lol

By the way thanks for sharing your experiment. I found it very interesting.
Good morning, yes I am painfully aware, this has been my downfall for the past 9 years, I've never moved from induction and have always given up at the 3 month mark, this time will be different, I am taking baby steps, but fully intend to move into OWL.

Thank you for the response, also thank you for sharing your experience with extended induction. I did not think about asking myself those questions on a daily basis, I'm not sure that I will do it daily, but I have typed them up and printed them out and have them hanging right by my computer as a sort of daily reminder. Did you lose for the entire 6 months you were doing induction?

For me the major difference is that the new version of Atkins is much more liberal in the amount and types of veggies allowed in induction. For me (and everybody is different) it gave me too much freedom, I ate quite a bit of the Shirataki noodles which I think really hurt me, though I did lose 7.1lbs during induction on the new plan, I then switched to an older version and in 11 days have lost 12.9 (I gained back all of the 7.1lbs before losing the 12.9lbs) I gained water weight, and lots of it really quickly...so right now I am eating as cleanly as possible and doing really well.

Good luck to you, but realize that the results I have will not be the same as yours. I do not post my menus (and won't) but I am keeping my carbs pretty low (just for these two weeks) just to have a good baseline from which to start increasing, once I hit 20g again I will enter the two weeks at 20g and go from there. I read last night that "...if you still have thirty or more pounds to lose when you complete the Induction Diet, you certainly will not be happy with a major slowdown. To you, I would urge adding carbohydrate very slowly, staying for weeks at each 5 gm incremental level." (pg 177). This is exactly what I am planning on doing. Slow and steady.

I had a huge stall for 2.5 months during that time but it was from needing my thyroid meds adjusted higher. within days of getting them changed my weight loss was moving again.

I suggest you ask yourself the one about do I want other foods daily cause that is the driving point for many folk who were doing extended induction and jumped off plan and stayed off plan with big weight gains before they came back to Atkins.
I knew I wanted bread on day one and then that wanting went away, but when it came back in Nov I couldn't deny it any more especialy since there were legal low carb breads I could eat in OWL (CLeochatra hadn't invented those oopie rolls yet). I ask for atkins bread for Christmas cause the shipping costs were outragous back them and got 6 loaves as presents. I has some with a turkey sandwich that day and as toast the next morning and then they sat in my freezer for yrs untouched cause I didn't want bread any more. FUnny thing was once I could have it and tasted it I didn't want it any more.

                Re: You were all right

2big4mysize - hello, well last night I had a craving, for what I can't honestly tell you, but I had a very longing feeling for food. I made myself a burger (just ground round...nothing else) and though that has satisfied me this long did not last night, I finally went to bed without eating another bite and here I am today increasing my lettuce allowance. I am still not at 20g of carbs daily so I'm still fine, I will increase my lettuce (iceberg, no dressing) by 2 cups this evening and stick with this addition for the next two weeks and then figure out if I need to adjust again then. I still have room before I break 20g of carbs, but do not want to push the envelope and eat too many right away.

I've also decided to increase my water intake another 32 ounces daily which will take me to 128oz daily. That way I will not be as thirsty as I've been in the past few days.

Thanks for all the guidenace all
