  • Losing weight but not inches

Ok guys, i'm on my 20th day of induction have so far lost 14 pounds, but have measured my legs, waist and chest and have so far not lost any inches. Can anyone tell me why this is so?

I started exercising regularly about a week ago 1 hour tae bo every other day (but can only manage about half and hour at the moment) and weights daily (alternating areas daily).

I'm following induction and my percentagres seenm to be alright about 72/25/3-65/30/5 when i check.

I'm also in ketosis as i have tested with the urinalysis sticks can anyone give me a clue whats happening, the weights going but i'm still the same size.

I'm experiencing the same thing.. at least with the tape measure.. I think it has more to do with me being inept at measuring myself though!

Are your clothes fitting looser? That's how I know I'm losing inches - I'm down about a size and a half. But the tape measure disagrees with me, lol.

when you start an exercise program your muscles will superhydrate with fluids and look a little swollen this will add a bit of scale weight too. Once your muscles realize that is their new normal load they will shed the fluids and lose a bit of size and weight.

Keep working your Atkins and you will be a smaller healtheir you.

Hey vixie am i to understand that to maintain weight loss likethis i should alternate my anaerobic exercise like weights with my aerobic exercises like tae bo and walking.

Can anyone confirm this? The article seemed to make sense, its just putting it together!

              weight training

              Hi,

Yes, you should seperate your cardo and weight training. If weight loss is your goal, then most of your routine should be cardo. You might consider doing cardo the first four days of the week and then weight train the last two days.

You might find this an interesting read as well

              good luck,

              Vixie

WHOA WHOA WHOA WAIT JUST A SECOND.....Now this is some very bad advice. You want to lose lean muscle mass....do all that cardio...you'll see.

To maintain and/or increase Lean muscle mass, resistance training is recommened 2-3 time daily. Cardio about the same aswell. It takes muscle to burn fat. So why in the world would you not want to make them all the most effecient burning machines.

                    weight training

According to the article its futile to due excessive weight training while on a weight loss diet. The author states that you should do some weight training to maintain lean mass, but that until you are done loosing all the weight you want, building bulky muscle is not possible. He goes on to explain how doing weight training while on a diet can actually end up burning up lean mass. This guy is a published fitness expert and it seems to make sense to me.
