  • Skin...skin and more skin

Ok...i cant stand it. I look in the mirror and this excess skin is driving me insane. I have been latherin' on the lotion and doing weights, crunches etc. HELP! Will I have to get a tummy tuck after it's all said and done? I know the boobs will have to be done...they are looking pretty sad from a "D" to a small "C" I've taken up to skin brushing too does this help?

Where's the abdomen, I don't see anything hanging. And the boobs look great from here. Maybe in your birthday suit it looks a little different but clothed you can't tell a thing. You look great. :icondance

The arms let's not even talk about that. It's just gross. I dont care about the stretch marks etc. which i have alot of it's just the hanging skin. My daughter tells me mom your arms are all jiggly...LOL!

Yeah i guess clothed it doesnt really matter. I just stand and look at myself in the mirror and can jiggle all the excess skin all over my body. I know in time it may go back or it may not. Just something i'm gonna have to live with right? LOL!

Just wanted to see if anybody had any luck with doing something different than what i was doing.

Skin brushing. Go to Bath & Body works they have the paddle brushes there to use. You start from your hands to your heart and it feels great. Get's rid of all that gross skin. You also may want to google it and get some more answers. My snlaw did this while she was pregnant and did not get 1 stretch mark. I didnt listen to her and didnt do it.

What do you guys think causes the loose skin the most? Fast weight loss? Amount of weight lost? No exersize? I have had times in my life where I lost 40 pnds and had no problem with loose skin but after this baby is born I am probably looking at 80 pnds (wow that just freaked me out) and am concerned about what will happen.

I also had a c-section with my daughter and did get stretch marks but I don't have loose skin on my belly. I have the "lip" from the c-section scar because I have a tummy but no gushy skin.

So, I was just curious what everone thinks is the best way to avoid it if I can. I am sure some of it is genetic but most people I have heard of with bad cases are the gastric bypass people who lose it very fast. I guess lose it at a decent pace and exersize is all I can really do and hope for the best.

Theres a post on the board somewhere that talks about this and gives a link to a site where a guy explains it all....I am going to have to find it.

I think this is one of those individual things too. I'm using skin firming lotions/creams at night, and just started the skin brushing (ooo la la), and so far, no loose skin. I do have some wrinkling on the sides of my butt (yea, lovely visual, huh? LOL!) :yikes

I know on some of those plastic surgery shows they say that no matter what a person does, some people can't tighten up their loose skin, and others can. For some it just takes a lot longer for it to happen after they lose weight.

I'm sure for those who've had kids, it's even harder! :sadblinky

When you get older, your skin loses its memory of a thinner body. So if you've been overweight for long, your skin thinks it should stay the same size. I'm really afraid that the only thing I think you can do i undergo plastic surgery... but who has that money?

I've seen lots of plastic surgery shows and they all say the same thing.

Hmmm. I did read that article but like to get several opinions of things. I do agree that a large part of it is genetic. I have friends who got no stretch marks from pregnancy and I also have friends that have marks that are still really red years and years later while I did get stretch marks they are already clear and I had my daughter just a year ago.

I also know people whos belly looks the same( tight wise) and some who have gushy bellys from the baby. I guess it all depends on our individual skin.

I have see a lot of plastic surgery shows myself but I would say 95% of the skin removal peole I have seen are from gastric bypass and they lose weight extremly fast & I always thought that losing 200 pnds in a year would definatly cause I skin problem.

LOL I wouldn't say that I am quite "older" yet but yes the years do pass and our bodies change. No I have not been this overweight long, only a little over a year. I gained right before I got pregnant with my daughter. Before that the most I would go up is Maybe 20 pnds (40 once but there were personal reasons) but I could always take it off. I had never gone above that until I started taking ephedra and it helped with my energy at the gym and when they took it off the market all of a sudden my weight went way higher than ever before.
