Re: tired...
I'm on my 11th day and I'm tired because I haven't been sleeping enough!!!!
Some people get lethargic when they don't drink enough water, don't exercise enough, haven't eaten enough, slept enough, are stressed, etc.
Evaluate any of changes in your life recently (outside of Atkins)

Re: tired...
Dr Atkins did suggest that if we continued to feel tired on induction we should up our carbs for a few days by adding an extra portion of veggies or a few nuts or seeds.
See page 140 (in my copy of DANDR 2002) the section titled 'Welcome back your old friend Energy' in chapter 10 to read how to do this.
Have you posted some typical menus for people to look at? If you use www.fitday.com you can make your account 'public' and post the link here to save on typing it all out again.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: tired...
first we should know how much you are eating, are you on any meds, are you drinking your water, taking your vits getting your rest.
tiredness is a symptom of many things as was pointed out above. yeast dieoff being another one.
if you are not eating enough you can feel tired. Dr Atkins said thoer were the only folk he told to eat more food ever.
Hang in there once you figure out what this is it will get better and you should have your energy boost.by the book atkinseer

Re: tired...
Most of us go through some form of Induction Flu (withdrawals from caffiene and sugar, etc) so it could be the last remnants of that.
Are you taking your vitamin supplements as recommended in DANDR?
Are you using Fitday to chart your foods? If not here's a link to help you with it.

Some folks say that when they choose higher carb veggies in their 3 cup limit, and push their carbs right to the 20 carb line, they feel better.
Also, remember that the first rung of OWL is 5 carbs more of veggies, so you might think about moving to that and staying there for a while as well.

Re: tired...
thanks everyone. i am on medication and have been keeping my carbs super low for fear that the meds would be slowing me down. i have been getting 3 cups of leafy greens but thats it. i really want to lose this weight so i have just been standing the lethargy and trying to stick to induction. my induction is technically up on sunday so i will add the veggies then. thats a load of veggies that i am allowed!

Re: tired...
Don't try to keep your carb count 'super low'...just don't exceed the 20 carbs a day limit.
Remember these are carbs from vegetables...I don't think there's any documentation on anyone getting fat eating from the Acceptable Foods list. Your body needs carbs to function and theres no reason to be scared of the carbs allowed in Induction.
Just do the diet as it's laid out in DANDR. Dr. Atkins knew what he was doing when he wrote the plan and it's best not to mess with it.
Leafy greens are better than eating iceberg lettuce, but your body needs more than just leafy greens...if you want salad, mix it up with the salad veggies! Get some more nutrients and fiber in there! You can also stir fry a lot of the veggies on the list as well.
On this diet we get to eat, so enjoy yourself, follow the diet as Dr. Atkins intended, and relax a bit.
