  • Yet another induction/rung question

    One more question... I know I've read something before about moving up in rungs... and making sure that you keep your rungs in order, etc. I can't find the thread I'm looking for so I'm just going to ask my question...
    I'm trying to stay on extended induction for as long as I can, but would it be ok to add like half a cup of berries, or even just have a little extra veggies every now and then? It doesn't seem like doing that would really "mess up" my induction, but if I do add those things in does that mean I've moved to OWL? lol I'm not sure why this rung thing confuses me so bad!!!

    Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

    Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
    Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

    so:

    12/28/09 ~ 235.1
    01/04/10 ~ 229.0
    01/11/10 ~ 229.0 Grrrrr....
    (Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)
    01/18/10 ~ 227.4
    01/5/10 ~ 226.8
    02/01/10 ~ 222.6

    Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

      Thanks Rick... that does help me understand a lot! Still a bit confusing, but reading it a few more times will clear that up!

          if you keep your carbs artificialy low but add back OWL foods here it is called Modified OWL and you are still an OWLer.

          since you want more food move to OWL the first thing we add is 5 more net carbs of induction veggies. berries are on the 4th rung and sometimes do mess folk up so becareful there.

          if you got any more OWL questions you are allowed to post them in the oAL forum even if you aren't doing OWL and OWL experts will answer for you.

            As usual 2big you're very helpful!

            Well I'm kind of afraid to get off of induction, so I'm going to stick to it for awhile more... As soon as I REALLY want more veggie's I'll move on up w/ the OWLers. It's pretty intimidating... moving to OWL, adding in more food, possibly stalling, possibly getting off track...

              Why not just move to the Veggie rung of Owl and allow yourself 5 more net carbs of veg anyway? Many of us stayed on the Veg rung for several additions of 5 net carbs of induction-style veggies.

              It is only semantics after all - what does it matter if you call it 'Extended Induction' or 'OWL Rung 1' if you are comfortable with your allowed foods choice?!?
              Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                Very true Elizellen! I'll think about it... You're right, I think I'm getting too caught up in the extended induction vs. OWL thing... I'm sure an extra 5 carbs of veggie's won't effect my weightloss anyway, and It'd sure help when planning meals!
