DISREGARD THIS POST - I found a very helpful thread I didn't see when I started this one that answers this questions. Thanks!!

    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=40412

I apologize if I'm rehashing old questions. I've searched the books and online and haven't been able to find specifically these questions (but there's a LOT of info on these boards!)

If you're using Splenda drops (from Sweetzfree) or have any of the products that are made with Splenda (such as I found a chocolate syrup and caramel sauce from Walden Farms that is 0 carbs, 0 sugar, Diet Rite) what is considered a serving in that form?

Also, why is Splenda limited to 3 packets/servings a day? If it's safe as far as carbs, is the glycemic index bad or something? Just curious. Thank you!

Oh, btw, I guess I should mention that this is my last day of induction but I intend to continue induction a while longer while hubby is moving on to pre-maintenance because he lost 10 pounds during induction and only wanted to lose 20! Men!

    Re: Splenda questions

I'm not sure about the liquid splenda because I use the packets, but hopefully someone will be along to help you with that one.

I believe sweetener is limited because of the whole "moderation" factor. You don't want to feed your sweet tooth, even if it is with a better alternative to sugar.

Where in NC are you? I'm in the Winston-Salem area.

Hey! I'm in the Raleigh area I kinda wondered if that were the case, that it might make you crave sweets again, but I wanted to be sure. We'll see what everyone else thinks too. Thank you for your input!

        Re: Splenda questions

Powdered splenda will add to your carbs, 1 splenda packet should be counted as 1 carb. If you are limited to 3 servings per day, that adds 3 carbs to your diet and if you are limiting yourself to 20 carbs, 3 carbs is kind of a big chunk out of the 20. Use liquid splenda, it has no carbs at all. www.pureliquidsweetness.com sells liquid splenda and you dont have to wait till a certain day of the month for it to be available. Its super concentrated and sweet. 1 drop is equal to 1.5 tsp of sugar. This will really save on your carbs, I love it !!
