Alright, I'm curious to see what everyone's weight loss rate has been during extended induction in comparison to their initial induction. And please include how long you've been on extended induction. Boy, I'm just a demanding little creature today, aren't I?
    Thanks

    Re: Weightloss rate

when i did atkins the last time around i never did OWL, I lost 40ish pounds in about 6 months

this time around i did follow OWL directly after my 14 day induction and i have lost 60+ pounds in 5 months....

So in my eyes, extended induction is a no no and you should only stay on it if you fit the guidelines in the book!

Good thinking, Emma. Seems like OWL worked better for you.

Heavens! I can't really remember!! Sorry.
I do know I was on extended induction for too long, and regret that now. Would've been better to have moved to OWL sooner.

            Re: Weightloss rate

I am an example of someone who continued on Extended Induction for nearly a year. Perhaps interestingly enough, moving to OWL was a jumpstart I needed to begin my weight loss enough to satisfy me. I continue to lose weight. I reach plateaus but I don't get discouraged. Instead I look at how far I've come. Best wishes to you!

              Hello All

So what is the general consensus? Is it btter to stay on extended induction or OWL?
I feel that I should be losing more weight than I am. Also, are most of you exercising regularly? I am walking moderately but not hardcore. Any advice would be welcomed.

35lbs in two months isn't bad at all. I think most people have said that going onto OWL is best. I don't exercise hardcore either, I just do my exercise tape.

I stayed on extended induction for too long.
I don't remember exactly but it was close to a year!! I lost a lot the first 5 months and then it just slowed... once I finally got the 'courage' to move to OWL I started losing again but bounced around a lot and struggled with cravings because I didn't follow it exactly. I jumped around on the rungs, but once I did it right I saw WHY the rungs are laid out the way there are. It's all trial and error but I sure could have saved myself some heartache if I just moved to OWL sooner and followed the rungs correctly.

                    Re: Weightloss rate

Oh and I've always exercised. For the first few months I walked 60 minutes on the treadmill a day... soon after I moved to jogging and videos and all that good stuff. For me exercise has always made all the differance in the world. If I just eat good I maintain. If I just exercise I maintain. If I eat well and exercise I lose. Plus it REALLY helps me keep my eating under control - especially in the begenning!
