How long should I stay on induction? I'm really comfortable with staying on it for a while especially with the weight coming off sooo easily!

You have your answer right there.

Stay on induction as long as you want, if you're seeing results and the general repetition of an induction style diet doesn't bother you, go for it.

I did induction for a month this time around, I'm adding some OWL rung 1 and 2 foods, but still keeping my carbs to around 20 a day, I seem to do best right there.

        Re: How long?

I stayed on induction for about 10 months...and then I completely ignored the pre-maintenance stage which was a big mistake! I only put 10 pounds back on, but wish that I would have just done it right in the first place.

I never got bored with induction and I loved it because it required basically no thought on my part...so I think you can stay on it as long as you want as long as you move into other stages before you reach your final goal.

          Re: How long?

The book says that you can stay for a bit. Induction is great but I dont believe that you can stay on it for the rest of your life. I am also on extended induction and somewhat terrified to go up the rung for fear of gaining it all back. My plan is to stay on induction until I get to my first mini goal and then add the 5 carbs and move on up. The whole goal is to find your carb max- that magic number where you do not put on weight. Atkins says that if you are in the woe and have gained 5 pounds, he suggests going back on induction to get it under control. Lots of people here say that you will lose more once you start the rungs. For me its like standing on the diving board and wanting to go in the water but convinced that the water is too cold!

            Re: How long?

I was only on innduction for 3 weeks and then i hit my stall. I figured with my stall I could just move up to 5 more carbs a day. Now I am at 25 carbs a day and still on rung 1 after a month. I am still unsure of how to proceed or how to determine if its ok to go to the next rung so for now ill be happy with my 3 cups of salad and my 1 cup of other etc.

Are you still losing weight, Mirya? If so then you could move to the dairy rung and see how maybe 5 net carbs of milk or cottage cheese or plain yogurt affects you.

Or you could stay on the veg rung and add 5 net carbs more to see if the added carbs still allow you to lose weight.
Some people here stayed on the veg rung adding 5 net carbs extra every week or so to find their CCLL so they knew how may carbs they could eat and lose before trying the other OWL rung foods.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
