  • The Diet Coke really was stalling me!

    I started Induction a few weeks ago and was not losing that much weight even though I was in Ketosis. So I decided to stop drinking Diet Coke and other diet sodas sweetened with Nutrisweet. I stopped 5 days ago and have already lost more than I had lost in the first 2 weeks!

    Stupid Diet Coke! I guess I am one of the 25% that Atkins said have slower weightloss when they drink diet sodas! :anger

    Yea, statisically I think it was more like 50% that were affected so that's great you gave it up. I too have given up sweeteners and cafeine all together, it's best just to follow the diet without all those "quick fixes". So awesome job giving up the Diet Coke, I know it's hard but YOU CAN DO THIS :yes :icondance

      wow you have given up a lot.. what do you eat? i need ideas.. cuz i find myself eating processed cheese and such..

        A year ago, I used to drink 6-10 cans of Diet Coke a day. I had done this for 15+ years.

        I stopped cold turkey when I began Induction a year ago.

        Since then, I have had maybe 3 Diet Cokes at best guess. And it even tastes funny (and not very satisfying) to me now.

        I drink mainly water, and occasionally tea sweetened with Splenda.

        A big difference I noted is I no longer drink 3-4 glasses of Diet Coke when eating out either, instead I driink one glass of water, maybe refilled once. I really think that stuff makes you want it more and really doesn't quench your thirst.

        But Nutrasweet is a known staller. Congrats on starting to kick the habit.

            question... If it's the nutrasweet in Diet Soda that stalls you, can you drink a cup of caffeinated coffee in the morning? I cut way back on my diet soda, but I still drink 1-2 per day. I've been at 9 lbs. for a whole week, so I'm wondering if it'd help to cut the diet soda. Still, I need something first thing in the morning to wake me up. Suggestions??

              Caffeine can also slow weight loss.

              Water and decaf green tea are my staples.
