  • Atkins at low cost

I am looking for a topic that explained how to do atkins on a low cost budget. Someone wrote a great post on it explaining how to do it for like under 10 bucks a day i believe.

I can't find it, especially with the recent changes... Could someone help me and either post the link to this post that broke down how to do atkins on a low cost budget or direct me to the person who wrote it.

Thanks.. i have a friend who needs this info.

I don't know what's available where you are, but we really shop around for meat. We buy huge cuts and chop it up ourselves. We have some wholesale type places like Costco and Superstore, but we also goto the local butchers and price out freezer packs of meat. our only drawback is we don't have a big chest freezer yet. we hope to get one this year, then we can buy sides of meat. I like to mix it up and get beef, pork, chicken, venison, bison. we find that buying big and freezing is our best option. the layout for it is usually between $100-250 for precut and packaged freezer packs. Before Atkins a freezer pack would last all month for about 50 pounds of meat, now it lasts about 3 weeks. We also make sure to hit the sales. Safeway has these 2 for 1 meat sales, and at the end of the day they often put dollar off stickers on whatever is left over. with those stickers we buy the smallest packs of meat to maximise the savings, otherwise we usually go for cuts as big as possible or family packs. Compared to the meat, our produce is much cheaper, usually about maybe 10$ per week. We also buy herbal tea in big boxes and use that when plain water is getting to be too much for our palates.
