i must confess that this weekend i licked a potato wedge... no nibbling no sucking only 1 small lick.... my second confession is that i was making Jello for my son and it was still liquid i dipped half of my pinkie nail into it and licked it.... i know not too bad but i still feel guilty as thought i have betrayed myself and all i have worked for.. next week i will be starting my 3rd month on induction and hadn't cheated until now, i suppose it might be time for me to move on..

Re: i must confess
I ate a brownie today. I already kicked myself in the butt over and over and over for it but I am proud to say that when lunch came a few hours later I got right back on plan and have been carb free for the rest of the day (i know i had way to many but no need to add more)
How it would have gone down a month ago:
Lunch time comes and I see the cafeteria has chicken Parmesan (breaded served on a bed of pene pasta and marinara that is I'm sure full of sugar w/ 2 bread sticks) and I would have had that for lunch. I would have also had a rootbeer (not diet because they don't carry it so I have an excuse) and probably grabbed another brownie (or 2) out of the kitchen on my floor that day. Then I would have come home to make dinner and ate my burger WITH the bun and potatoe chips and probably had a GIGANTO glass of milk...
How it went down today: I knew it was bad and I journaled about it and why I did it. I went on to have my chicken for lunch (minus the cheese and just had salad veggies because they were my first veggies of the day and last) and then had my bunless burger w/ bacon and no other carbs for the rest of the day. I'm craving something sweet now, I'm sure that's part of the sugar I had in the brownie, but I will just have a cup of tea w/ splenda instead of something sweet.
I think that's quite the transformation after 2 1/2 weeks!
Have a Beautiful Day

Re: i must confess
Well done on not sliding down that slippery slope.
But please dont punish yourself by depriving yourself of your 3 cups of veggies. You need the vitamins and minerals as well as the fibre they will give you.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: i must confess
Funny confession but not untrue! Cheating is awful but not untreatable. If I have a cheat, then all the work that I did for that day is flushed down the toilet. It all amounts to nothing. That just makes me mad and I try to remember that feeling when I want another cheat.
The hard thing about cheating is that there is no immediate consequence for eating that item. It is not an instantaneous weight gain ,etc. Because it is not immediate, we think it does not have a consequence. It is a head game.sigpic

Re: i must confess
LOL. This post made me laugh. I was making home made yellow rice and gravy the other night... and not thinking I slapped a huge pile on my plate thinking ohh this is going to be good. I had to scrap off my plate and re-do. I added a salad instead.
My kids just recently got a case of bags of miniture milkyway bars from there cousin. OMG talk about having will power the first day they were in the house. I am now totally cool, but the first night I had to smell the candy all over my babies when they come kiss on me.
Im proud of them though, they had only a few and the rest are retired in the frig till Halloween. Then they are being shipped off to the school for the halloween carnival.

Re: i must confess
I've been on induction since 8/3 and my weight loss is completely stalled...partially due to taking Tums..even the sugar free ones have aspartame. I bought a new kind of calcium today that hopefully will work better. I have no choice, my body doesnt produce enough calcium. Anyway, after all this time last night I ate 6 croutons...first time I have cheated. But..I am forgiving myself and back on plan today. I am kind of mad though...if I was going to cheat I shouldve had something better than croutons, LOL.Start date 4/5/10

Re: i must confess
there are other calcium supplements that are alot better than taking tums, tums doesnt contain vitamin D which your body needs to use calcium. I take Citracal +D it is fast absorbing and has vitamin D.
Also i think its good that your cheat was croutons. Who knows how much worse you would have done if you ate candy or something with more carbs that could've triggered a carb binge. And atleast with croutons there is a good chance you are still in ketosis.25/F

Re: i must confess
Yeah, actually I have to take 50,000 IU of prescription Vit D a week, so I wish I could find some calcium that didnt have it added...I dont want to OD on it, but my Vit D levels are critically low.Originally posted by determined2shrink View Postthere are other calcium supplements that are alot better than taking tums, tums doesnt contain vitamin D which your body needs to use calcium. Re: i must confess
Ha! I heard that this is how Dolly Parton diets. That apparently she keeps a bucket with her at all times for spitting. I really hope that's just a myth though.Originally posted by carbless_in_seattle View PostThis post is clearly a joke. But in all seriousness I once put a cookie in my mouth, chewed it up and spit it out. I felt like a girl with an eating disorder in a lifetime original flick.

Re: i must confess
I detest dill more than anything else on this entire planet. As a child in the early 70's... McDonalds... can they make anything without throwing dill pickles on it? Anyway unlike today where you can "get it your way"... even after removing the dill pickles the taste was still there I would drown the hamburger in as much ketchup as I possibly could to try to remove that foul taste. In the process I could say I was addicted to ketchup, I would eat a lot of it on a lot of things.
Ketchup not being Atkins friendly, I did cheat the other day while eating some bratwurst. I added just a small of amount of ketchup, next to my mustard.
I find I no longer like ketchup. Not even a little. It is too sweet.
Thank you Atkins New Diet Revolution.
