    Hi,

    I have been on the Atkins diet now for about 17 days. I have not lost any weight but I am feeling and sleeping a lot better. I have more energy and feel good, my appetite has reduced and cravings having drastically reduced also.
    I am concerned because the pounds do not seem to be dropping off. I want to carry on and hopefully the pounds will but I guess I need some encouragement here and an incentive.
    I am 5.9 and about 176lbs, I need to lose 22-25lbs to fall within a healthy BMI.
    My breakfasts consists of 4 egg whites+green peppers+1 or 2 strips of bacon and a cup of tea or coffee, usually decaf.
    Brunch could be cheese or broccoli, I have cut out carrots for more than a week now.
    Lunch consists of salmon+shrimps+zucchinisauteed in butter and a pinch of soy sauce plus a small bare bowl of leafy veggies.
    or Lamb_bean sprout in butter and soy sauce+ leafy veggies.
    Dinner consists of either of the above maybe cooked with a different set of vegetables or chicken.
    Tea and coffee with cream and splenda are usually about 2 - 3 cups spread throughout the day plus about 4 litres of water.
    Am I on the right path?

    heyy maedaa..ive also started the atkins diet nd its my 20th dayy..but im also not losing any weight yet..my face has becum a bit slimmer but havent lost any inches or wieght..it makes me really dissapointed wen i c nooo progress..im confused..plzzz wud someone help nd boost up my confidence???
    i cant understand how people lost 10 pounds in 2weekss??am i doing sumthn wrong??
    plzz guide!!

      Most people will lose between 5% and 10% of the total they need to lose on the first 2 weeks of induction.

      So for someone with maybe 100 pounds to lose they might lose 5-10 pounds but for someone with 20 pounds to lose a result of between 1 and 2 pounds would be 'normal'

      We have had members who lose nothing on induction but felt the other benefits of Atkins so persevered and once they started the second (main weight loss) phase of Atkins (OWL) their weight did start to drop and they got to goal while following the 4 phases.

      Dr Atkins actually considered losing inches was a better evidence of losing fat - which is what we all really want to lose so do make sure you are measuring as well - or look out a very tight outfit to try on from time to time to check if you are shrinking even if the metal monster is not co-operating. The 'Trousers of Truth' will tell you if your legs are slimming down.

      F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )

        Have you tried using fitday for a couple of days, FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal It will give you a good look at your meals, carbs calories.
