  • Low weight loss

Hello all! I've been following this board on and off for years, but I've never actually posted. This is my fourth/fifth time on Atkins but only the second time I've really taken it seriously. I went on the diet in 2001, lost 16 pounds the first two weeks and 60 pounds over the next six months. I went off it when I thought it stopped working (in reality I think is was that I learned to cheat). After that I half-heartedly went on and off again over the next few years, maintaining my weight but not losing.
Since then, I've gained the 60 pounds back on and then some. I started January 2 and I have been very serious. I know ketosis doesn't mean much, but I've been in since January and I've only lost about a pound a week (about 5-6 pounds). I'm am so frustrated! I haven't been working out as much as I'd like, but I'm moving to a new house so I'm busy from 6pm-11pm every night and on my feet all day. I'm drinking tons of water and keeping my carbs lower than 20 a day. The only "bad" thing I do is drink tea, could that be the problem?

    Thanks,
    Tina

    Re: Low weight loss

Oh, and according to my fitday.com calculator, I'm at 63/36/1 for today. Typically I eat some green beans or cauliflower but not until closer to dinner.

The best way to lose weight on Atkins is to follow ALL of the rules - that includes 3 cups of veggies per day and 1/2 your daily carbs from veggies...I'm guessing from what you've posted above that this isn't the case.

Also, the best bet for keeping the weight off long-term is to go through OWL carefully - I would suggest that you do that as soon as your 14-day induction is up.

Also, spread your carbs out throughout the day, and eat them with fat or protein to avoid a blood sugar spike.

        Re: Low weight loss

Maybe make your fitday public or give us a few more details about your menu. Without that it is really hard to give you any pointers.

I think with people who come back to Atkins several times they usually have picked up bad habits and then cannot really get things going again because they are not following the rules.
And you are older now, metabolism has changes so things will be a little different.
Did you make sure to have a check over with your doctor to make sure your thyroid and everything else is OK?

          Re: Low weight loss

Are you eating only induction legal foods for those 20 carbs. I'm sure you know the 20 carbs can't be just any carbs, but just in case figured I'd ask.
