  • New and needing help!

    Hello all!
I have been on Atkins for 5 weeks, and this is my first time here on the boards. I have been doing the extended induction, because my loss hasn't been as impressive as I hoped.
I lost 11 lbs in the first 3.5 weeks, but haven't lost a single pound since then! Is this normal?? Am I doing something wrong? I'm feeling very defeated, and I'm just getting started! Any good kickstart pointers?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
All the best and thank you in advance for your time.
Must lose the baby weight - I know I'm buried under here somewhere!

We'll need more info to help. Can you list what you've been eating? Have you been exercising, getting enough water etc?

Everyone loses at a different rate.

      Hi 2babies
      Welcome to our ADBB family

It is not uncommon for our body to take a 'pause' after a few weeks of initial quick losses. There is even a phrase and acronym for it - the 'post induction stall syndrome' (I'll leave it to you to work out the acronym )

So it might just be your body's natural reaction to its initial losses and nothing to do with your food plan but it wouldn't hurt to list a few daily menus as poobears suggested, to see if anyone can spot any possible problem choices.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Also are you measuring, my first time around my weight loss slowed dramatically, but during that time I dropped three pant sizes. I was running at the time so my new leg muscles must have more than made up for the fat I lost. The scale is evil, the tape measure pure goodness. But unfortunately I am a slave to the scale as well.

Keep it up I am sure you will be rewarded.

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

          Re: New and needing help!

Thank you so much for the replies and encouragement!

My diet is usually something like:
          Breakfast: 3 hard boiled eggs
Lunch: Salad - I'm a big fan of peeled and sliced cucumber, marinated in balsamic with a few plum tomatoes and 0-carb mozzarella
Dinner: baked chicken breast - tonight it's baked with Frank's hot sauce.
I don't snack too much, but if I do, it's generally a 0-carb string cheese.
Any input on that would be great!

To the measuring tape point: My husband is a personal trainer, and he says "It's the tale of the tape, not the tale of the scale" I took measurements after the first 4 weeks, and had lost 7" overall - mostly from the torso area. Anyone know if that's good? It's super hard for me to only measure every 4 weeks, but my husband says I'll get frustrated if I do any more than that. How often do you measure?
          Thank you for the help!!

            Re: New and needing help!

You have a very wise husband.

Your dinner is a bit low on veggies. Many of us need those nutrients to lose so make sure you all your cups in every day.

Balsamic vinegar usually has sugar and is a no no

There is no such thing as zero carb cheese - We should count one carb per ounce and restrict cheese to 3-4 ounces. Sometimes we need to eat less.

You should get some fat from oil or butter - you're mostly getting it from cheese.

You're not telling us what you are drinking. ?

And lastly do you exercise. Having a personal trainer and everything
Hang in there you are on the right track.
