  • Fell off the wagon and feel terrible!

    Hey all,

I fell off the wagon this WEEKEND!!!! I've feel terrible since and feel like i've put on about a stone! I cant believe how good I have been for 5 weeks and then go and ruin it all!

My first sin was drinking Saturday night, toooo much JD! Then the hangover cravings kicked in on sunday morning and i couldn't resists! I'm too ashamed to actually tell you all what I ate, but it was A LOT!!!

Before this terrible mistake I had lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks! I was so proud! Toooo scared to weigh myself this week! BUT back on it today! FULL BLOWN INDUCTION AGAIN!

    I had for breakfast:

1 low carb sausage (0.5g), 3 scrambles eggs, fried mushrooms.

Lunch: Chicken salad (cos lettuce, red pepper, onion & cucumber)

Dinner: Rump steak, with melted cheese, turkey rashers, garlic mushrooms.

    One quick question about sausages....
I read on on e of these forum about a brand of sausgae you can buy from Sainsburys, so I brought them and they were disgusting, way too strong with flavourings for my likings, so I went back to the sausages I was having before. It says on the pack Carb 1.6g Fibre 1.6g - but in the ingrediants it says they contain rusk so i'm a bit confused!?

ALSO... how do i start my own thread on here?!?!

    Hi Jenna
I split your post into its own thread here so it doesn't get lost in the thread where you posted it.

I am sorry you fell into the booze trap and then into the cravings downward spiral at the weekend and am glad you are now back on the wagon again.

Congratulations on the weight lost so far Hopefully it won't be too long till you are back at the point from which you fell
Looking at your menu I would drop those sausages, as they contain rusk which is a wheat product used to bulk up the traditional british banger!

They are more carby than you thought as in UK our labelling does not count dietary fibre as being a carb at all, so we do not deduct fibre from total carbs.

UK 'total carbs' = US 'net carbs'

I don't like sausages much but when i do get a yen for them I buy the german-style bratwurst which are nearly all meat plus spices and preservatives, with no added fillers. I get mine from Lidl but many other supermarkets do carry similar ones.

BTW - to start your own thread just look at the top of the forum in which you want to post and click on the 'new thread' button.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I just noticed that you started with about 42 pounds to lose and wonder why you decided to stay on induction after your first 2 weeks rather than move to the main weightloss phase (ongoing weight loss/OWL)?

Did you work out your metabolic resistance to weightloss from the charts in DANDR?

What are garlic mushrooms, that sounds like music to my ears, my two favorite things, garlic and mushrooms. Tell me they are sauteed in my next favorite thing, butter.

Sorry you fell off the wagon, consider it a learning experience and move on and just know how drinking affects you.

Rusk isn't Induction friendly ... I would probably wait until pre-maintenance or the grain rung to have these.

I never knew this!!! No wonder it took longer for the pounds to drop I was reading the labels all wrong!! Thats why I stayed on extended Induction becauase the pounds weren't dropping, I put it down to my underactive thyroid bu now I know!

yes garlic mushrooms are amazing! butter, garlic and mush all fried off in a pan! hmmm yum! lovely with a bit of steak!

I'm finding this atkins way of life v.hard! There's not many foods I like and I'm etting bored of bacon and eggs for breakfast!

Also one more question, I found a website called Avidlite, which sells atkins friendly food, and I brought some protien shakes which are 1.3g carb and 15g protein! and they are delicious!!!! good for a treat when you have a craving!

Some people find that their taste buds expand.

              >>good for a treat when you have a craving! >>

Actually, feeding a craving only keeps the craving alive. One of the purposes of Induction is to overcome your cravings and desire for "sweet".

That's a good reason to move to OWL, so that you have more food options.

Breakfast does not need to be eggs and bacon anyway. You can have anything from salad to steak with veggies.

In OWL, you can also have things like cottage cheese, peanut butter, berries...

Shakes tend to stall people out so I would avoid them if you are already having trouble losing. You are kind of swapping one problem for another. Make your own shakes (read the eggnog shake thread). They are super good and completely atkins friendly because you know exactly what are in them.
