I am trying to find the L-carnitine that is for weight loss. The only thing walmart has is acetyl l-carnitine and that is for memory, not weight loss. Dr. Atkins talks about carnitine in his book along with coQ10. Sam's club has the CoQ10, but they don't have l-carnitine. Surely someone on here uses this supplement. Where do you buy it?

I've been trying to find L-taurine like mentioned in the book for water retention since Dr.s just want to slap you on HCTZ which never works more than a week or two and can damage kidneys. No luck on it locally either.Atkins Start date: 01/18/2010--Now off plan for med reasons, still an Atkins lover!

I've found L-Carnitine at local pharmacies like CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens. These stores have frequent BOGO sales so it makes the L-Carnitine and CoQ10 more affordable.
I now usually buy L-Carnitine from vitacost. Scroll down the list past the acetyl versions. I've found their prices to be very good.
p.s. Vitacost also sells a version of Atkins Basic 3.
p.p.s. I keep re-reading the info on carnitine in Dr. Atkins Vita Nutrient Solution (p. 191-195) and I'm still not clear on the differences between acetyl and regular carnitine. It would seem that acetyl would be good for both memory and fat burning...not sure why it is not.Comment

actually the actyl is the form you want for transporting fatty acids.
however before you buy a supplement check you foods and see if you are not getting enough cause red meat, pork, bacon, chicken, cheese, and green veggies are all sources of both those supplements.by the book atkinseer
