  • What is everyone's maximum carb levels

    Hi,

Just thought it would be interesting to see what amount everyone is limiting their carb intake to. See if there is some kind of a norm.

I don't have a limit - at least not a conscious limit. I eat what I want. I just know the kinds of carbs that made me overweight and I stay away from them.

I probably stay between 75 and 100 most days.

Thanks all, It is interesting to note. I am starting on OWL and was just wanting to get an idea about other real people out there and not just those in the book.

              Who knows.
I bet some days I do 50, other days 150.
But it's all "healthy" carbs in the form of fruits, veggies, or nuts.
No sugar or grains unless it's hidden in some sauce or dressing. :raving

I'm not sure how high I can go without gaining, but when I keep track of what I eat, I tend to be somewhere in the 20-40 net carb range most days. I find that I can't eat much more food than that and I eat whenever I am hungry. The higher carb days are when I eat fruit.

I have no idea. Fitday is too exhausting to figure out and too many options.

I just eat what makes sense and then weigh myself. If I gain I go back to induction until it is gone.

I haven't stopped losing yet, but I can consume somewhere north of 100 net carbs without having found my ACE yet.

I rarely pay attention but usually Im around 50 a day, I haven't experienced any leveling off yet so I have no idea of my maximum level.

I just read these posts, and was envious - or am I just misguided? I reached my goal five months ago, and then started increasing carbs until I stopped losing. I've been hovering between 158 and 162 for four months. My goal was 165, but I've decided 160 is where to stay. When I hit 165, I gradually increased from 35 to 50, at which point the loss stopped, so I stopped increasing my daily intake. Do you think I can "safely" increase until I start gaining? Is it possible the threshold at which I start gaining is much higher than the point at which I stop losing? There are days when I deny myself something because it would push me past 55. I use FitDay to monitor.

Bottom line, I'm so tickled to see this weight again (it had been over 20 years) that I'm terrified to start putting it back on. I tried just about every weight control method over the years, and Atkins is the only method that was successful - and easy, at least for me.

I also limit calories to 2700 to 3300, depending on my workout or other physical activity.

                            Your expertise is appreciated.

If you're vigilant, you can increase your carbs to where you start gaining, then step back a few from that. Carb creep is a very real risk, though, if you get sloppy.

You can also hold at 55g/day most days and then have a day or two per week where you go a bit higher.

Don't ever let yourself gain more than 5 lbs without doing *something*, though.
