  • Just need confirmation of my conclusion....

So two weeks ago I started OWL and I've been on the veggie rung.

Have not lost an ounce. But I have been losing VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY slowly this time around anyway, and although this pause is slightly longer than usual, it isn't out of range for me, I don't think.

I measured on Tuesday as part of my every 2 weeks thing and had lost several inches. Don't know how much was from the week before, and how much after I started OWL.

BUT, two weeks ago I was JUST able to fit into my size 14 pants and now they fit fine.

So I'm ASSUMING that it is ok to move up a rung if I want to.

    Am I correct?

Hi, Finelly! yea for fitting in you size 14's! That's awesome!

Here's what happened to me. The same thing you're going through. I did Induction, and then moved up the rungs one at a time. BUT...I have spent 2 weeks in each rung mainly because I've discovered I'm pretty slow at losing, but I'll take variety in my food and a slow loss. The inches are the UTMOST important thing to watch during OWL, in my opinion. It doesn't set you mind up for feeling like a failure when the pounds don't just fly off. Because everyone is different, DR. A says so in his book, and loses differently, you have to figure out what works for you.

The one thing for sure is that if you start gaining weight, then you know you need to drop back.

I hope this helps. It sounds like you and I have this OWL thingy in common. Oh, and exercise makes a difference with being on OWL...so far I've really good at stalling out and water weight retention until TOM, but the inches are just flying off. I'm moving up to RUNG 3 this week with a little bit of seeds...not the full "allowed".

    Best wishes!

Thanks, Lisa! Yah, I'm retaining water up the kazoo for the last 3 weeks, and am consistently upping my water to help try to flush it out. You're lucky that yours is confined to TOM - mine appears to be related to something else, and I can't figure it out, because it started before I went to the first rung, and besides, how can veggies cause water retention? I don't salt them...Oh, well!

I'm probably going to stay on the veggie rung another week because I don't really crave anything further up and my appetite is nil, so it's hard enough getting in an extra cup of veggies.

And yes, it's S-L-O-W but like you, the inches are melting off, and that's all I care about!

Yes, you can move on. Losing inches is a sign of weight loss. I've stopped paying attention to the scale because it doesn't move, but the measuring tape does.

yep inches or scale weight use whichever you like. You are obviosly burning off your fat mass to lose those inches. Congrats on the great loss you have had.

Be careful with the dairy rung. Too many folk go wild with cream and get in trouble or they use fitday carb counts and go wild with the aged cheeses afterall at .2 net carbs per ounce 5 net carbs of a strong cheedar is a lot of cheese. Dr Atkins gives serving sizes for what he considered the amounts we should add in the power of 5 and if you look you will see not all power of 5 servings are anywhere close to 5 net carbs.
