  • Adding new foods...

Here's a question for ya -- when you're adding new food, it says to only add one new food "group" a week, no more than 3x in the first week... what does it mean by group?

For example, say you're on the berries rung... does that mean you can add several different types of berries in one week, or just one type? Like if you're going to add strawberries, you just add strawberries say Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and then no other berries. - OR - can you add strawberries and blueberries in one week? Maybe eating strawberries Monday, Wednesday, Friday and then blueberries Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday?

I've read some posts about this that seem to be in favor of both of those options, so I just wanted to get a better understanding!

"Group" refers to the foods in a rung. So, the berry rung foods include berries and melons.

If the food is new to you, then you should only add it in 3 times a week to see how it affects you. See, a certain food within the rung can adversely affect you and/or all the foods in a rung can. In my own experience, I can tolerate honeydew melon and watermelon, but cantaloupe causes severe food cravings.

As for mixing the different foods within the rung, I didn't do that....1 pint of strawberries lasted me more than 1 week, ditto for blueberries or blackberries (I don't even want to get into how long it took me to get rid of the honeydew melon!).

Thanks Meg... I already understood the first two paragraphs you wrote, but I still don't know about my question, which was related to your third paragraph. I guess a better example would maybe be the nuts rung... can you add walnuts and cashews in a week (just as an example)? Eating each of them 3 days a week. The engineer in me says no, because since you're doing an experiment you want to have controlled variables, and if you have a problem you don't know if it's the walnuts or the cashews. BUT, if you do have a problem, it's simple enough to take one or the other out of your diet to narrow down the root cause of the issue.

I'll be interested to see what some other people have to say or have tried when adding different foods in on OWL.

I wouldn't. Again, if you are adding 2 things within a week, you'll have a harder time figuring out which of those two things affected you. Then you'll have to spend time removing them and adding them back in one at a time.

So add them in 1 at a time, imo. There is no "time limit" on how long you can stay in a rung.
