  • Tough lesson learned the hard way!

I am shaing this within hopes it will stop anyone from cheating.

While at a motor cycle event over the weekend, I gave into temptation and ate a biscuit and some chicken that was breaded in flour. There was other goodies there but I opted for that thinking that because I wasnt a big bread eater, it wouldnt hurt too bad.
Boy was I wrong!! Dead wrong!!
3 days after eating it and 3 lbs gained, I am just miserable. I am cramping, bloated, constipated and flat out miserable. I have laid on the couch in a fetal posisition all day trying to rock the pain out of my tummy. It sure taught me a lesson the hard way, literally. It also kicked me out of ketosis!! GRRRRRR @ ME
I am feeling somewhat better tonight tho, but I restarted extended induction within in hopes of getting back to ketosis.

So if you are thinking about cheating, I would strongly reccomend you change your mind. It just aint worth it.
That saying just one bite wont hurt....BULL HONKY!! It hurts like a mickey feather!!

Cincy, Sorry you feel bad. I'm like you and gain a few days later. After eating a meal like that, I used to think when I weighed the next day, I could get by with a second day and have everything OK. Wrong. LOL I never knew that anything could stand in the way of pizza with crust and me. Constipation does. I'll never eat another pizza w/crust, or regular biscuits, or white bread again.

        Feel better soon!

I'll never eat a grain of flour again myself. I dont think I was ever so miserable in my life as I was the past 3 days. I am much better today tho.

Get into ketosis and pick up where you left off in OWL.

A few weeks ago, I read an article about wheat gluten allergy/sensitivity. Gluten is the protein found in wheat and some other grains. Anyhow they said that 1 out of 300 Americans have this problem and there are many more undiagnosed because the symptoms vary from person to person and the severity of the symptoms vary. For example, for one person, they might get a skin rash. Another person might have stomach problems that can be anything from bloating to severe diarhhea and cramps. Another person might have infertility.

So, file this experience away in your brain. When you get to the grains rung, try out wheat and see what happens. If you get the same symptoms, then you know you have some kind of food intolerance to wheat.

Isn't that called Celiac Disease not2late? Just wondering if it was the same thing as a person I care for.

They are not necessarily the same thing. I have researched this and read that you can have a wheat allergy and not have celiacs and vice versa. You can also have both.

Celiacs is when gluten damages the villi (sp?) in your small intenstines causing malabsorption problems with food, thus leading to all kinda of other health issues. Wheat is the main source of gluten but not the only one, other grains have it too.

I am pretty sure I have a wheat allergy, just not sure on celiacs as you need to be eating gluten to be tested to verify it, and I've been on Atkins too long (and don't plan on stopping!) for this to work now.

Those with celiacs that accidently eat gluten after being gluten-free for a while can have a pretty strong reaction however.

I sure do appreciate the advice, I know I'll never put another grain of it in my mouth. Before atkins I never had a reaction, but after not having none for 3 months..my body pretty much told me to not try that stunt again
