  • Re: OWLERS "Stepping Back" thread

    Thanks for the support everyone!

Ok, well, as unpleasant as these 5 days have been they are working - I'm down to 171lbs, 2 away from lowest ever. I think I'll put my ticker up again

Food today is a bit tricky as going out this pm at about 4.30pm and won't get home til midnight. Am going out with a group of people who never seem to eat so I'm packing a dinner for on the train!

Cals 1695, carbs 28g, fat 65%, carbs 7%, protein 28%. not too bad, could do with more carbs and cals, but for a trip this is ok.

    B: 3 bacon, 2 fried egss, 0.75 cup mushroom w. butter. 6 cherry toms. 1 oz cheese.
L: 2 cups lettuce, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup rocket, 1/2 cup celery, 1/2 cup peppers, 1/2 chicken breast with 1/4 cup creamy mushrooms (leftovers)
D: 1 cup broccoli, 1 cup courgette, 1/2 chicken breast, mayo and 4 cherry toms. Weird but portable(ish).
S: 1 oz cheese, 4 cherry toms (when get home).

This is a great thread as people have said.

After looking at my Fitday, I've been having too much protein this week. Not enough vegetables. Going to remedy that today although it's kind of hard at the school, especially on a Friday. Hmm, maybe I'll take a ride over to Fresh Market for lunch today...or maybe Boston Market.

Down a lb! yahooo!!! I think I am going to switch my HWC out with the carb countdown milk, what do you all think? It will lower my fat intake which has been always been high like around 75% each day. I am not sure what my ratios should be. I don't know. But it will also lower my calorie intake which I have a hard time keeping up. I don't even know what my BMR is, where can I find that?

Just weighed for this morning and I'm UP .5lb. I know thats not much but geeze. I've been more disciplined since starting this group and you guys have seen what I've eaten daily and I have drank at least 80 oz of water a day, sometimes more. So, wonder whats up. Maybe something had too much salt and I'm retaining a bit of water.

I'm not stressing over this measily .5lb but I must admit it is a little frustrating when you are being so good and the scale moves the wrong way.

Ok..quitting whining. Thanks for your attention!

Oh and I'm not changing my ticker to 172.5...I refuse..I won't...no...you can't make me...stomping my foot...crossing my arms...

Jen, this is what I use... BMR and Harris Benedict:

                        First find your BMR (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/).

Then adjust it based on your activity level with the Harris Benedict Equation (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-c...edict-equation/).

The number you get after you do the second calculation is the amont of calories it takes to sustain your body each day (staying the same weight). Most people eat around 500 calories beneath that number... some fewer, some more.

                        Does that help?

Your BMR is the number of calories you would burn if you stayed in bed all day....hmmm...hehehe....well I'm assuming if you stayed in bed all day you might just burn more...but what do I know.

Sweet, it doesn't count. You have to weigh FIRST thing in the morning, not after you've played on ADBB for an hour. It DOESN'T count. Only the lowest numbers count, your weight fluctuates all day... so no frowning! Even my coffee will put my scale up a lb after 30 mins. but it's gone the next morning.

                              ok 1845

                              Calorie Needs to lose weight
There are approximately 3500 calories in a pound of stored body fat. So, if you create a 3500-calorie deficit through diet, exercise or a combination of both, you will lose one pound of body weight. (On average 75% of this is fat, 25% lean tissue) If you create a 7000 calorie deficit you will lose two pounds and so on. The calorie deficit can be achieved either by calorie-restriction alone, or by a combination of fewer calories in (diet) and more calories out (exercise). This combination of diet and exercise is best for lasting weight loss. Indeed, sustained weight loss is difficult or impossible without increased regular exercise.

If you want to lose fat, a useful guideline for lowering your calorie intake is to reduce your calories by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level. For people with only a small amount of weight to lose, 1000 calories will be too much of a deficit. As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

An alternative way of calculating a safe minimum calorie-intake level is by reference to your body weight or current body weight. Reducing calories by 15-20% below your daily calorie maintenance needs is a useful start. You may increase this depending on your weight loss goals.

sorry, wanted to post that cuz I had no idea and maybe others don't either.

1345 would be my daily calories ?? that seems low, I've had more than 2000 calories for weeks on atkins. and I've lost plenty. do you think the above text isn't considering ketogenic diet? now I'm even more confused. I'm not gonna worry about it. I'm gonna keep doing what I've been doing because I am a LOSER.
