  • Carb Countdown Milk question

Has anyone tried the Carb Countdown Milk? I've had the Chocolate..yummy! But I'm trying to stay away from sweetners, so was wondering if the white milk was sweet? Or does it taste more like regular milk?

I'm trying to find something other than cottage cheese to try on the dairy rung, but I'm not having much luck...at least nothing that isn't also sweet, like lo-carb yogurt.

I was going to buy some of the Carb-countdown milk today, but saw it has splenda in it. But I didn't know if it was just a little to make it taste more like real milk, or if it was a lot and tasted very sweet like the chocolate does. Of course, just a little may set me off too, I don't know. Just trying to vary my diet a bit. I may just go ahead and skip up to the nut rung if I can't come up with more choices. I'm dying to get back to my macadamia nuts!!!!

Personally, I don't think it tastes like regular milk----at all. I only use the stuff to make my own low carb yogurt.

It definately tastes different from milk. You can also make your own milk by mixing cream with water 50-50, then there's no splenda added.

I buy the carb countdown milk occasionally, and it doesn't taste sweet to me at all. Can't say if it taste just like milk because I don't drink it plain. I use it in low carb cereal, or mix it with some cocoa and ice to make a milk shake.

use the milk to make low carb non sweetened yogurt like Megds said the recipe is on theboard for the steps and it is a lot cheaper then the low carb yougurt as you get 8 cups for your carton price.

it may not have the 4 billion good bacteria that the commercial yogurt has but it tastes good and workds in all the recipes and has live active cultures too and you control the racting time you you can have it as thick or as thin as you want.

Sorry to be a pain, but could you point me to the yogurt recipe? I'm not finding it in the recipe section...at least not by searching the word Yogurt. And searching the word Yogurt on the boards gives me way too many choices. Thanks for any help!

sorry I posted it in a phase forum topic about yogurt it is very easy
you have to be brave and buy a real yogurt with active cultures the plain or fruit on the bottom are best. you can go out an buy the actuall bacterial cultures but the cost is high. then warm up your milk I just open the top and nuke it for a min or two stir it up and check to make sure it is around 110 F and then add one heaping Table spoon of the cultured yogurt stir it up the purist will say use a wooden spoon seal it up and place in a warm place for 24 hours i use the top of my frig Megs has a fancy warmer she made, somebody else used the pilot light in the gas oven. chek your yogurt in about 12 hrs and see if it is as thick as you like remember iyt will have whey on top if you use the in the carton reacting method and you want to chek the thickness below that layer. when it tasts as sour as you like it and is as thick as you like it stick it in the frig andpoof you got very low carb Atkins OWL rung 2 friendly yogurt. you can do greek style by adding a pint of cream to the milk before you start but you got to get a new contaner then.

Oh and pour the real yogurt left overs down the drain if you don't have somebody to eat them for you or you can't keep them in the frig woithout being tempted to wolf them down.

I have been searching for Hood Carb Countdown milk for three weeks now. The local supermarkets were all carrying it last summer, but now (since the 'fad has passed') they are not carrying it anymore. FINALLY yesterday I found it at Meijer! Hooray!

I don't really care for milk anyhow...so I cannot comment on how it tastes by itself. I use it in my coffee for a creamer that is cheaper (and lower in fats) than heavy cream. I really like it for that purpose ... and a container will last me two weeks, easily! Have not yet had a carton go bad past its date. Have never tried the chocolate!
