  • Atkins Bread? - Smart Carb Bread - Julian Bakery

So I am on the induction phase of my low carb diet and was doing some searching for Atkins Bread which it looks like is no longer available. I did however find a Net 1 Carb bread from the Julan Bakery called Smart Carb No 1 and integrated it into my diet.

After the first week of using two slices a day I took 3 lbs off and the only thing I changed was integrating this new low carb bread. Week 2 I took off another 2 lbs......The amount of sprouted fiber in this bread is incredible 12g of fiber per slice and the best part is it taste great on sandwiches, french toast etc......If you want a bread that taste good and cleanses you out then try some of this bread. I buy it online at Julian Bakery - Organic, Wheat-free, Preservative-free, Wheat Free Bread, Julian Bakery high quality bread! I am certainly not dissapointed and am getting closer to my goal of getting an 8 pack stomach!!

What low carb diet are you following? This bread contains grains, so it is not allowed during the Induction phase of the Atkins Diet.

I found the bread on Jimmy Moore's site he posted a video review of the bread that stated this bread is best used on the induction phase of the diet check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7uriaDsOCY

I love Jimmy Moore. That is a funny episode.
        A really scarry topic: bread
And I think that bread looks really good.

Jimmy clearly says in that video that this not for the induction phase.

So Atkins friendly but not induction friendly

That looks fabulous, but I'm wary about introducing something so addictive back into my diet now that I've overcome the cravings.

Not just not good for induction, but according to the book, not allowed.

No grains on the allowable foods for induction.

                Momtomany is right
                Smart Carb No. 1

                Ingredients:
Whole grains, bean, seeds of *kamut®, *spelt, *wheat, *rye, *millet, lentils, eggs, soy protein, flax, sesame, *quinoa, *amaranth, wheat gluten, 7 grain flakes, oat bran, sea salt & yeast.
So a good addition once you reach the grains level/rung of OWL (if your body is fine with it) but not an induction 'legal' option.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I can't believe I missed that video (and I subscribe). I just ordered 4 loaves. Some will say $40 is high for 4 loaves of bread...I say what is my life worth.

I've been getting the Mama Lupe low carb tortilla's from netrition (3 net carbs) and they are good. What worries me is that this bread has many more calories...I know we don't count those

I'll add another comment in the OWL section after I get them. Really looking forward to a grilled cheese.

                  Thanks

I think it is not right to have this bread thread in an induction forum so I am moving it to OWL now.

I got this bread and it is really good, especially grilled with butter. I've made grilled cheese and some steak and cheese. I put the butter and grill the bread so I can get that extra fat.

A little expensive but it is worth it (this lifestyle is saving my life so the cost is ok with me)

                      Thanks

Bread sounds good but if we start eating it I might be tempted to break diet we all know bread can have many toppings I might get out of hand and over eat no thanks. If it works for you carry on.

I read a review of people eating this bread the other day and they found that when they measured their blood glucose level it really rose quickly after having two slices of this bread. So (and we already know this) it is not just the carbs that is important it is the source of the carbs, in this case grains, that we have to watch out for. I am not saying not to eat it (I eat some bread once in a while here on rung 9) I am just saying to be careful and watch your responses to it.

Now I'm worried, I've been eating two slices (normal sandwich) every day for the last 6 days. I finish the loaf today.

Up to this point I've been eating the Mama Lupe tortillas (one a day usually). Those haven't affected me but this Julian bread does have more grains for sure.

I've stayed in Ketosis (I know that doesn't always mean much).

My next weigh in is next Wed so I'll see how it goes. I've also started more weight lifting in the last month (was doing cardio with some weights) so that will have an affect too.

As for the overeating with this bread, I could see that fear but so far that hasn't happened for me. It is really filling and I've never gone back for seconds.

                            Thanks

                            Mike

I am a self professed carb junkie. No bread on induction. I am going on vacation overseas on Monday and have already called my mother and requested she doesn't go out of her way to buy cookies or breads or potatoes for me. I explained to her what I am doing and she is fine with eating veggies and meats and eggs etc for the next few weeks. I do have to encourage her to eat her cereals etc as she is only 104lbs and can't afford to lose any weight. Ahhh if I could only be so lucky.....
