  • Messed up my eating

I was running late this morning and ended up having 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for breakfast. Fast forward to lunch..once again running late for an appointment. I knew I had to eat something so grabbed an ounce of cheese to eat in the car.
Finally get home and I felt soooo sick. I ate a few small pickle slices and headed out to the grocery store (didn't have much for food in the house which was my first mistake). Thankfully my son was with me because I felt so sick in the store I had to say...enough, we are leaving. He took care of getting everything out of the cart, back in the cart, to the car, etc.
Now, I am feeling a bit hungry just not sure what I will eat for dinner. Nothing seems appealing.
I did drink water all day..so at least I got that right. I am going to try to eat a proper dinner but don't see myself getting my carbs/veggies in for the day.
I wonder if it would have been better to eat something illegal than to not eat.

Jane, I think if you cook your veggies, to eat a smaller volume for the same number of carbs, it would help. Do you have spinach? A cup of spinach cooks down to almost nothing when cooked. You could also make a sauce for meat (if you have some meat for dinner). Or have some soup maybe. There are ideas in this sticky thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ables-owl.html

Cheating would have definitely been worse.

I hope you feel better soon.

This has happened to many of us. For breakfast I usually make a quiche on Sunday & it lasts for 3-4 days. When I'm running late I can just grab a piece & go. I don't mind eating the quiche cold. I try to keep a baggie with almonds in my bag for emergencies also. Also keep some veggies cut up in the frig as they are easy to grab on the go. Celery, red peppers, snow peas etc... I also always have boiled eggs in the frig~~they've come in handy more than a few times!

      Definately eat something tonight.

The nut rung will come in handy. I have nuts (almonds because I can trust myself with them) where ever. In the car in all purses and bags. So if I need to I have some. Even those darned bars are OK - because once in awhile things just comes crashing down

You did good. Sorry that you ended up feeling so bad. Do your best for tonight. Have something.

Thank you all. I am almost ready to move on to the nut rung, so that should help to have a snack handy if I need it.

I did eat tonight and feel much better now. I just had a hamburger (homemade, not fast food) with the 1 carb ketchup and green beans (probably a good 3/4 cup because they were fresh from our garden and so good..hard to stop eating them). Not sure if I will eat anything more tonight.
Tomorrow will be a better day.

          Thanks also for the link.
          Take care, Jane

I vote for almonds as an emergency snack too!
Like Liv I have a couple of ounce packets in each bag, in the car and available to grab on my way out.

why not keep one or two of the Atkins bars hanging around? Thats what I use for those emergencies.. but usually try cut up veggies or I agree with Ozloverm and keep the hard boiled eggs ready
