  • Moving up a rung...Maybe.

    I've been on Rung 2 for almost three weeks now and was planning on moving up to Rung 3, but am not sure if I should or not.

    The first week on Rung 2 I gained a pound. The second week I lost four pounds. This last week I lost only a pound.

    I may have over done the cream in my instant decaf flavored coffee. Or it could be the coffee itself, although it says zero carbs on the label and there isn't any sugar added. Regardless, I've cut back on it and will probably just cut it out altogether. I've only had 1 lg cup (12 oz) a day. Less than ten cups over the three weeks. But this last week I had it four days in a row.

    I also didn't get my water intake in on Sunday (was probably close to half of a gallon), so I wonder if that caused the slow down.

    Therefore I'm trying to decide if I should move up a rung or wait a few more days and see what happens without the coffee. Any thoughts?

    Well, I am like you. When I see other things that may be the culprit I don't know if I should move either. But, I can say that every time I add veggies I lose more that week. I also know that I had a breve' ..which yes had half-n-half because they didn't have any cream and I think it really was too much for me. I know it slowed me down this week. I think the experts will give you better advice I just wanted to answer and say I sometimes wonder what I should do too. Since Jan 1st I have only messed up that once with the breve'. But I have not drank enough water and not eaten enough veggies A LOT! I struggle with those 2 things daily. So, anyway sorry for the rambling. Maybe we both need to lay off the coffee LOL

      I gotta agree with ya Nicole, I can't seem to eat too many veggies either(technically I know that's not true) and the more I eat the more I lose.

      I also lied about the coffee...Looked at it again this morning and it has "maltodextrin" in it. Not quite sure what that is, but it sounds kinda like sugar. It also has 1 gm of carbs. Whatever, I'm gonna stop it for a while and see how it goes.

      Still haven't decided on moving up a rung or not. There isn't anything really all that exciting about the nut rung, except that it's closer to rung 5.

          if you are in ketosis and not having cravings from your coffee mess up you can go ahead and move up to nuts and seeds rung 3.
          we are testing for food reactions in OWL along with loking for our stopping carb point. the fact you have been losing weight on rung 2 even with your screw up and not having cravings means you can handle that food and that carb level.
          time to make the next test.

            Thanks 2Big ~ I think I will.

            The problems I have with the coffee are two-fold.

            First, I don't want to have breakfast. I'm not hungry afterwards. I have just forced myself to eat something so as not to mess up my program.

            The other thing is that it also reduces my water intake. I usually would have drank to cups of coffee by the time I'm done with that cup of coffee. Then I am trying to catch up the rest of the day.

            Anyways, I'm off to Rung 3.

              In short, it's a substitute sugar. It's generally made from corn.

                why don't you make your coffee part of your breakfast. you could make coffee flavored cream cheese as filling for muffins now that you are on rung 3 and can use nut/seed flours. then you could drink one cup while you eat your muffin and since most nut flour muffins are a little dry you will need water to wash it down and thus your fluid intake will go up.
