  • Hope I'm not climbing the rungs too fast

I'm moving up to Rung 4 today. I've been averaging about three weeks at each rung (including induction). My weight has fluxuated a bit but over all it has gone in the right direction (down). To date, I have lost 10% of my body weight and I am good with that.

I wasn't that big on nuts and I doubt that I'll be eating all that much in the way of berries, but progress is progress. Although strawberries are in season and we have fields all over this place. Mmmmm ~ Sounds like some cheesecake is in my future.

You're not going too fast, as long as you add a new food only 3 times a week and keep losing weight or inches.

we can climb as slowly or as fast as we want to any where from a rung a week to a rung a month or more.

The nuts/seeds are good for potable snacks and according to Dr Atkins in DANDR powerhouses of nutrtion and berries contain many nutriants too everything from trace minerals to vit C, so you may want to reconsider them as part of your Atkins OWL. we don't have to eat them as a snakc food we can toss a few seeds/nuts, and/or berries into our soups, salad and vegies. Cranberries are a great flavor to add to cooking pork and poultry.

I love using frozen berries coated with 1-2 tablesppons of cream as a cold summer treat whiule others were having icecream.

Georgianna ~ I can always count on you to give great advice. Whether I like it or not.

2Big4mysize ~ great suggestions. I didn't even think about cranberries and I like 'em. Strawberries are in season here, so I'll be enjoying a few of those soon.

        Thanks to both of you.

make sure you eat your berries with some fat. its the last words Dr Atkins says in DANDR chapter 14 so some folk miss it and as a result have a blood sugar craving issue when they add berries.

I did not know that. I'll be sure to whip up some cream with 'em. Mmmmm

Polarbear - great thread. I had the same concern but the weight is still dropping at the same rate. Some of the rungs were done a lot faster than others (dairy - lactose intolerance and general aversion to things other than cheese; alcohol - no need to slow things down; berries - only really eat blueberries and no more than four strawberries at a time - allergies). So here I am. Just ready to move to the fruits. I will probably spend a bit of time here due to the variety.

I can say this is the farthest I've ever gotten on this WOE and I feel so empowered.
              Good luck to ya!

Re: Hope I'm not climbing the rungs too fast

I added goji berries on rung 4 as I missed the taste of sultanas in curries.
I soak about 5 gram (4 net carbs) of them per portion of the curry in some sucralose-sweetened liquid and microwave them for a few seconds to plump them up then add at the last moment.
I always top my curries with plain greek yogurt so that adds extra fat too.

I did make some 'christmas pudding' last year using ground almonds and added goji berries to that too!

I am considering making some 'hot cross buns' this year and will probably use them in that to get a closer substitute for my husband.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
