  • Whoa Horsey!

Hello my friends and dear Atkins fellows!

Well it has been four weeks of very little to no weight loss. Yes, very littel inces lost too. I know "very little" does not qualify as a stall, but I think most of the weight and inces lossed and gained has been more the effect of water gain and retention. I have been hovering right around 257 pounds for a month now. I went up the OWL rungs pretty quick when I moved into OWL and I think I might have skipped along a little too fast.

How should I proceed with the digression? Carb amounts have stayed constant around 30 per day, the same as when I was losing weight, and water consumption has remained high. Exercise is the same as well.

Thoughts and advice welcome.......Why else would I have posted right? And no, I am not contemplating quitting and I am not going to shove down a whole pizza tonight or binge drink my sorrows away! Feeling sorry for myself is for the birds, not me! I am 29 yo, so I only have 50-70 years to get this right......No rush!

    Love ya all for helping!

Why don't you try going back to Rung 2 & see if that helps...if it does, proceed more slowly from there. If not, start Rung 2 over again

I did notice that your profile says Rung 5...I'm assuming that you know what affect alcohol has on weight loss and that you have eliminated that as the culprit

Should I be lowering my carb count as well?

Drop the alcohol and log what you eat for one week in fitday to see if any hidden carbs have "snuck in" as you became comfortable with this WOE. Don't drop back on carbs yet, as I have found that the quality of the carb is often more important than the quantity. If that doesn't work, I can always send you my old pair of boxers...

              Re: Whoa Horsey!

read chapter 15 of your DANDR so you can understand Dr Atkins thinking about what to do when weight loss stalls officially.

Assuming you are doing the mandatory exercise part of your atkins and have not made any active lifestyle decreases looking at your foods to be sure you don't have carb creep going on would be the place to start as LateNightDiner posted.

if you have no carb creep then ask yourself Am I eating only enough food to satisfy my hunger at each feeding and not filling the empty spaces in my tummy? many folk over eat their atkins because they are consuming legal for their phase foods, have carbs in their budget and room in their belly. Since we don't have to tank up since we can eat again as soon as we are hungry you might look at the amount you are eating next. If none of that applies then lower your carbs by 5 net and see what happens.
