  • Over my carb limit

Today was a wonderful day. My husband and I went and hiked up and down a mountain nearby. Terrific exercise, but...

We went out to lunch and were so busy all day I didn't have time to log my carbs until this evening. It turns out I majorly underestimated my net carbs for the day and am 10 carbs over my limit (I'm in the first week of OWL Rung 1 and should be eating 25 carbs, ~17 carbs from veggies). THere weren't any cheats, I just ate tons of veggie carbs because I was so hungry from three hours of hiking.

If at the end of the first week on OWL 1 I have continued to lose weight, should I continue adding another five carbs? Or should I stay at 25 another week?

You can stay on the first rung of OWL for as long as you are comfortable. You don't have to move to rung 2 at the end of a week.

And I wouldn't worry about overdoing on appropriate vegetables!

I agree - no-one ever got fat from eating extra veggies from the induction-allowed lists so it will not affect your progress I am sure.

I stayed on the veg rung for a few months, adding 5 more net carbs several times till I was eating quite a lot of them, as I love my veggies.

Some people even use the vegetable rung of OWL as the one where they try to find their CCLL, so they know how many net carbs they can eat and still lose, then can use this info to help them when climbing the OWL ladder and substituting some of those extra carbs for the higher rung foods.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
