  • Hello from a newbie to OWL

Hi everyone! Well... time has come for me to make the move from extended induction to OWL. Am really looking forward to getting to know you all.... and looking forward to the extra veggies too! :yes

Have been doing Atkins since January and have lost twelve kilos (around 28 pounds, I think). Am really pleased with this amount as I'm 51 years old, so weight loss is inevitably slower than it used to be.

Everyone was terribly supportive in extended induction, and I'm sure that it will be the same here, too. No doubt I'll have many dumb questions. Please bear with me! :help

    Happy low carbing to all...

    Sal

    Hello and welcome.

Be sure to read the OWL chapter in the book and the stickies at the top of the forum.

OWL is great. You'll be able to see how many carbs your body can really take, instead of keeping it at the artificially low Induction level. You'll be re-introducing foods and if your body doesn't have a bad reaction to them, they will be part of your "OWL Foods List".

    Good luck to you.

Don't be shy to ask questions.

Welcome to OWL! I found the transition from induction took a bit more 'work' but I had been on induction for several months. Since we are wanting to set up lifetime good habits, really understand how foods effect us and find our CCL during OWL, the little bit of more diligence really pays off.

welcome to OWL the great Atkins food experiment where you are both the scientist and the lab rat. Make careful notes and remember you must repeat your testing to be sure it actually was that food or food group and not something else in your life or that new carb level Megs can tell you some horror stories about ricotta cheesebrands until she finally found it was something in the different brands and not the actual cheese.

Thanks 2big, for the welcome. Must say... kinda like the sound of being both scientist and lab rat!!! Laffs.

Will remember your advice about testing very fully!
