  • Please critique my menu

    I am unable to find my '02 book so I'm going off of what I've read here. I'm actually starting Induction over, I started on 2/13 but I don't think I've been doing it correctly and have since found your site.

    Today - restarting Induction (correct, I hope) starting at 5:45 AM
    2 c decaf coffee w/1.5 tbsp cream
    8 oz Carb Countdown 2% with Nopalina

    Breakfast
    2 eggs scrambled w/ 2 tbsp shredded cheddar and 2 mushrooms (about 1/4 c)
    These were scrambled in Enova oil
    1/2 can Atkins 1 carb shake

    Lunch will be:
    Salad - Butter lettuce, radicchio, bell pepper & cucumber with Ranch
    Turkey wrap on low carb tortilla

    I brought some cheddar cheese, celery & natural pb (or perhaps the other half of the Atkins shake) along in case I need to munch on something mid-afternoon

    Dinner
    Sauteed chicken tenders and asparagus

    It's 10:AM and I've had about 24 oz of water so far

    Thanks, any and all help is very much appreciated. I will also be joining the Thyroid group for input there since I have that to contend with also and when I get a minute I'll go to the Introduce Myself and let you know my very fattening background.

    welcome to ADBB

    check the food lists in the stickies ofthe induction section and you will not find any low carb store bought foods like wraps and milk. induction is full of real foods veggies 3 cups worth of the low glycemic ones Dr Atkins selected. heathy fats and protein sources too.

    You will have a better chance of being the big loser you want to be if you are strict withyourself for those 14 days and see what Atkins can do for you.

      Shakes are not allowed, even low carb ones, and peanut butter isn't allowed until the appropriate rung.

      It sounds like you are motivated and want to do this. Get the book so you can be really successful. I know you can do it.

        Thanks for the quick responses , since I've not eaten the wrap yet I can get rid of it. I'll see if I can freeze the Carb Countdown I have until I can have a bit here and there. And I've not had the peanut butter yet so can save it for a later time also. I'll use Ranch dressing with my celery.

        Sure hope I can find my book soon, I may go by the used book store and see if they have one on the shelf. Having two can't hurt.

          In the meantime you can copy and save the allowed foods list on to your computer and print it out as well as the rules of induction from the stickies in the FAQ forum here - just look for the ones with 'induction' in their titles.

            I had a small salad and some green beans with lunch (I don't believe it was a full three cups combined) but if I had had my allotted vegetables with lunch would it be necessary for me to avoid vegetables for the rest of the day? Also, I purchased some Hormel pepperoni slices because they showed zero carb and zero sugars but this morning when I was putting things together to take to work I decided to get my glasses on so I could read the ingredients and I think I saw the word dextrose. Even with my glasses the print is so small I'm not sure of what I saw (need to use my magnifying glass for this one). Would these be acceptable if I did see dextrose as one of the ingredients?

              I wouldn't avoid veggies the rest of the day..just make sure you have them with every meal from now on. We eat the Hormel pepperoni slices and haven't had any trouble.
